There are still inequalities in education, access to healthcare and social services, etc. It is meaningful as a symbol and an example, but when it comes down to brass tacks, racism is still a very real problem in America (for all races, including Blacks). Barack Obama is the exception moreso than the rule.

Some on this board have hair triggers when it comes to "reverse racism" against White people. Really guys, put the shoe on the other foot and imagine yourself as a Black person living in a 600 year legacy of slavery, exploitation, lynchings, discrimination and disenfranchisement. Racism, and the scars left from it will take generations to heal.
Ignorance? No, think outside the box. because Obama was elected (and because the majority of his votes were from white people) SHOWS that this country has made TONS of progress on racism. I also stated that racism still (and will always) exist in some form or another. However, if "blacks" had it so bad and "whites" were so racist against them... then a black man would not have been elected Presidency by a majority of white people. Durka.

Furthermore, the second part that I bolded is - to say the least - the dumbest thing I've read on this site since i've joined. No offense. A black person living in America today doesnt have any "scars" that have not healed from what happend before their parents were born, and beyond that. Don't give me that bullshit. Just like todays black man has no scars and personal pain from what happened to their great great ancestors, the white man of today has no guilt for what his great great ancestors did. It's LIFE. It happened. Its a contriobuting factor to whats made this country what it is today.

By your logic, it's safe to assume that if the Chinese were to rape 100,000 italian women.... that hundreds of years from now the Chinese should still feel bad and the Italians should still hold a grudge. Riiiiiight.
