It will be at 4k before the end of summer. The Russian Ruble is on the edge of collapsing and the Russians have been buying alot of our debt to secure their ruble. The Chinese economy is in a very severe downturn because of so much lower spending here. This will cause them to buy up less of our debt. The same is true of the japanese economy. The european economy is largly based on ours also and downturns here lead to high prices for the same good there.

By Nov 4 of next year we will see the rule collapse, the euro and the chinese economy will be stagnant, and the dollar will be nearly worthless. This will cause the DOW to look like the NASDAQ and we will see several forturn 500 corporations in bankruptcy or near it. Getting a loan or credit card will be impossible. All of this combined will cause countries to look over their boarders for a greener pasture. It will also push OPEC to drasticly raise oil prices and probably lead to someone attacking them to get control of their oil.

WWIII will be upon us before 2010. I wonder if the first shots will be fired by then.

Everyone is saying it out in the open right now.

Banks will be nationalized SOON , like in the next few MONTHS. At that time there will be a HUGE run on the banks but they will be govt controlled. Our financial system will start to collapse and unravel even further. Socialism is coming folks, open your eyes all the signs are there.

We may need George Patton, BlackJack Pershing and Douglas MacArthur also.

Thomas Jefferson would commit suicide if he saw what the country he had such a hand in building has turned into.

only 3 potential enemies have nukes, China, Russia and Pakistan. Russia and China have the nukes to flatten the US, but we also have the nukes to flatten them. They will not use them because they have the sanity and common sense to know that. Pakistan has a few nuke bombs and a few short and medium range nuke missles, but we know where those are and we would be able to get to them and take them out of commission before they could be fired off. Even if they were fired, they could not reach the western hemisphere.

Now Iran and N. Korea have been trying to get nukes and I think they would nuke nuke material to make dirty bombs and dirty missles, but those have a VERY small nuke footprint compared to the nukes that the US, China, Russia, France, and England could use.

Obama is spending alot of time using fear to push his agenda, but the economy really is in bad shape right now. Our economy is based as much on confidence in the future as it is in real facts. The truth is that we have no confidence in our elected officials or in busines.

I don't think the war will come to America this time round, its gonna be fought all over the oil producing nations.

I agree that it is going to center on the oil producing countries, but we will see combat in the US. It wont come in the form of large scale ground combat though. It will be mostly air to air combat over the costal areas. We will also see air to surface missle attacks on costal areas such as loading docks and ship builders.

We will see some small scale ground combat though because of special forces infiltrating the US and causing trouble.

I hate to say I agree with all this. Being an atheist I feel my time on Earth is more important than the afterlife, so sadly I feel with the way things are going I might not even get to live my life and enjoy the ups and downs.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I dont think it will end up being WWIII but we will have a big struggle on our hands soon. People can speculate all they want as far as whats going to happen in the future..and thats all it is..speculation.

Yes we are in very hard times right now but i think that America as a hole will wake up and notice shits got to change and we will fix this situation as a hole.

We should have let those banks and other companies go bankrupt and started a new in the first place but instead the gov chose the lets spend our way out of debt.

There is enough money in circulation to keep this country going strong. We and other nations just have not have got fed up with shit enough..

I think honestly once every one starts feeling hard effects of this economy things will change.

Im optimistic so i could be wrong but id like to think we could come together as a nation and figure a way to fix this shit and quit letting the government fuck things up.

It took a nation to get us in this mess..its going to take that same nation to pull us out. I'm not sure about other countries but maybe they will follow suite.

Interesting was some economists saying its going to take something along the lines of the "dot com boom" or the invention of the internet to pull us out of this.

Every recession sees some kind of "boom" or innovation that seems to bring us out of it. People dont know what that could be, and where we are heading.

Some have argued the legalization of weed is coming ,as a tax revenue, it would give us unbelieveable money , it would spur businesses all over the country , etc

Not saying i agree with it, but i dont disagree either. Kinda neutral but its going to take something drastic like that to bring us out of this, i dont see that yet

what about the possibility of gaining independence from oil through the form of "green" innovations? The Pickens Plan on like.... steroids perhaps?

You are thinking far too small scale. This isnt an american recession, it is global. Not every country is as well equipped to handle it as the US is either. Many smaller countries are going to look beyond their own barders for the keys to prosperiety.

If there is an innovation, but I seriously doubt there will be large enough of one to make us independant of foreign oil, not to mention oil completely. To be completely independant of oil would mean the end of plastics and every other petroleum based material we use.

Phase 1 of pulling out of this needs ot be producing our own oil though. Contrary to the liberal belief system, you can work on alternative fuels while benefitting from the ones we currently have. There is no alternative power source other than nuclear that can even start to replace oil. Wind, solar and geothermal are far too inefficient to use on a large scale. NG would raise the price of NG to a point that it would out of reach for most people. Electric, we you need something to power those batteries from so thats out. Ethanol, well, just look at how inefficient it is. It takes more energy to produce it than it creates. On top of that only an idiot would use food for fuel.

On top of that only an idiot would use food for fuel.

honestly not trying to attack you, but your statement of there is no alternative power source other than nuclear that can even start to replace oil is very, very wrong....amazing what a CURRENT college level course can teach you....just one example; researchers in germany recently figured out how to capture only a fraction of the energy released from a single lighting strike and its power is enough to provide enough energy to New York city for about a week....there is also thousands, yes i said thousands, of natural and experimental gases that have the same exact properties as oil...just because the news and gov't act like they have no idea whats going on with alternative energy doesn't mean there isnt a solution. look up some peer reviewed scientific journals and you'll discover a ton of alternatives to oil use.

thats why GT is perfecting the process of turning PINE into Ethanol. Look for GA to be a leading producer of ethanol in the not so distant future.

I know there are a great many EXPERIMENTAL sources, but nothing that is within a decade to being ready for large scale use. You also have to remember that any source that is not constant is not useful. If that lightning technology is used, what do you use if NY doesnt have a storm for a month? Spend 3 weeks in the dark?

Maybe I wasnt clear enough in my other post. There is no alternative energy source that is ready to be deployed tomorrow even if unlimited funding was provided to create the required infrastructure. That statement holds true for both vehicles and electricity.
