I feel that this is OK as long as embryos aren't produced solely so that the stem cells can be harvested from them. However, since the embryos they harvest from are ones that would be trashed anyways, they might as well use them for some good.

Makes me think of the family guy when Peter has a stroke and then goes to a stem cell research facility.

great post! abortion, test tube babies, stem cells, etc...much like everything else in life it has its "yen & yang." i don't think everyone needs to get bent out of shape over the whole embryo abortion/test tube deal. umbilical cords have stem cells too. for a hefty fee, you can have your (or your child's or whatever) umbilical cord blood preserved. whether it can be used to repair spinal chords, we'll see.

i'm amazed at how much people defend an embryo that is aborted at the single digit weeks stage...or grown for that matter. Its just not a living human, it's just cells replicating in a sack. Its just never phased me.

but like i said before, go break your neck, land on your head, be confined to a wheel chair or bed AND THEN argue about a little group of replicating cells in a sack that contain the key to you becoming normal again. Something that a few years ago was just impossible throughout human history.

Its not destroying what an embryo is that bothers me it is the potential of what it could be that bothers me. I won't lose sleep over it. I'm not saying it is bad. I'm saying its a double edge no matter anyone's opinion. I was a biology major aimed at stemcell research before I changd degrees to GIS.

Oh, and SPOOLIN I <3 your car. It must be a hell of a ride. Always stare when I go to Mainstream. +1 cause thats all im worth.
