I don't agree with it. It really doesn't affect my life at all if two gay people want to get married, so why should I care if they allow it? I need to find the Lewis Black bit on gay marriage...

if 2 people commit to life(or until they say "u know...why was i so wrapped up in you?") together, and want to be married, it should'nt matter if they like sword fighting or diving for pearls....i know i like pearl diving, who would'nt?!

to me. i think its wrong. this is not the old world anymore. forgive me for being me, but i think that if two people love each other no matter what orientation that they are. then i think they should be allowed to show it how ever they would like.

Or that a majority of blacks are religious and that is who opposes gay marriage.

I could care less, if they want the ball and chain let them have it.

I don't agree with gay marriages but I don't feel like it's my right to impose my will on other ppl. If gays want to marry then it doesn't bother me as it does not affect me on a personal basis...

However, I do not find the comparison between being Black and being gay as the same.
I was born Black. That wasn't a decision. Taking part in the gay lifestyle is a choice.

If being gay were a choice then we could all just say "Hey, I'm gonna be gay today" but thats not how it works. Sure there are people (mainly girls) that do just that for attention, but they are not gay, they're just attention whores. By that logic being straight would also be a choice would it not? I don't choose to not be into guys. I just love the vag. Thats how I was born. Homosexuals don't choose to be into people of the same sex. That is just how they are born. I am a straight man, but I support gay rights 100%. Marriage is about love. Not religion or politics.

There is a lot of evidence that shows that most people are born gay

i don't think gays should be denied the right to marry, but it's not all about religion, its about the $$......and where is the money going to come from??? that's why the gov't is against gay marriage....collecting SS, MIAC, etc. from the spouse after death. i know some civil unions include these things but marriage you get all the benefits.

Eh. There hasn't been any scientific headway in either direction to determine whether ppl are born gay or not.

Yes, being hetero is a choice, as one who is hetero could make the choice to partake in the gay lifestyle.

    Either way, idc.
If they allow it, they should be able to marry.
The point is the vote was given to the ppl of California, and it was voted against overwhelmingly. I do not think it's the court's place to overturn that.

Bottom line is, there should never be a law that takes away such a basic right no matter what peoples opinions are.

I'm not saying you're necessarily born with it, it definitely could be a nurture over nature argument, but I am going to say that it is definitely NOT a choice (at least for your average gay person). I've personally known someone that has made the decision to come out of the closet and I can tell you they didn't do it for shits and giggles. They realized how difficult it would be and fought with it a long time before finally admitting to anyone. (Note: His choice to come out of the closet is not equivalent to his "choice" of being gay.)

They have every right to do whatever makes them happy, and as a couple they certainly have every right to enjoy all the liberties and breaks that heterosexual married couples enjoy. I don't care what they do behind closed doors, but denying them teh right to marry can have a lot of negative repercussions on their lives.

I dont agree with it. If GOD would have wanted rusty dudes to bang rusty dudes he would have equipped them properly. I'm glad California decided to say a lil somethin. Its against all that is right, regardless. And when GOD has his way, he'll surely show is dis-satisfaction.

I hate this whole argument simply because of what the religious people use to back it up. They all say "oh no, it's not religion, it's about the definition of marriage" which happens to be defined in the BIBLE. No matter what these people say, it is a religious attempt at barring gays from being married because their god said it's wrong. It's complete bullshit, and I would never support anything trying to deny gays the right to marry. Separation of church and state people.

Why should YOUR religious beliefs be forced on another person? The only reason gay marriage is illegal is because of dumb asses like you who believe everyone should have the same belief structure based on their interpretation of some "holy" book. Religion has no place in politics and certainly has no place in policy making. We have separation of church and state for reason. That reason being that the people who founded this country realized that religion only causes problems, never solves them. Please do the world a favor and kill yourself. Remove yourself from the gene pool so that the human race is not tainted with your idiocy. God forbid you should reproduce, and if you have the world is in trouble. I say a prayer for our nation that fools like you have the right to vote.

The funny thing is that all the religious dipshits think this is an attack on marriage just so they can say they can do it.

You dumb assholes still haven't figured out why gays want to get married. It's because marriage protects wealth and possesions. NOT just material things. Case in point.

2 women have children through artificial insemination. The biological mother dies. The partner, and the other nurturer in the family has NO legal rights to the child since she cannot adopt the child as a second parent since she is not a spouse.

So all you faggots that say God this and God that, jam a bible up your ass and take the good book into your soul the hard way. Tell me how it feels. I get so sick of religous garbage it's a wonder that in todays enlightened and self aware society, people just don't start hunting down nutcases like the family out in Kansas or just taking swipes with car bumpers at the Mormons who wake you up at 8 freaking AM in the morning shoving shit in your face.

I have 2 friends, girls that got married out in Cali, with kids and now their lives are challenged again....because of religious fuckheads.

Here's a test for you. Take the bible and lay it over your face. Then have your buddy aim a 357 at you and pull the trigger. We will see just how many people are saved by the good book. Think about it. It's a book....nothing more.

Uh huh... so in which religion is it ok? If it was ok, it would be a non issue. I'm not a "holy" person. But the obviousness of this problem is in the human structure anyway. Why is it that a woman can give birth but a man cant? Is there a reason why we have sexes? I bet there is a reason for a man and a woman to exist. So again, religion based or not, its not cool in any religion or demographic. If ur ghey, I'm sorry. But I'm not and I cant change my feelings for a females affection and sex appeal and the ability to have a child for some man to adopt a child and have a WIERD childhood. Tellin his boys he has 2 dads. Yea right.

I do feel that marriage is a bond that should be shared with a man and women, and I don't like the idea of same sex marriage. On the other hand, it's not my place or the government to tell people what they can and cannot do in their personal lives.

The point is that neither you nor anyone else has the right to tell anyone that, gay, straight, black, white, they don't have the right to marry. The only reason the child of two gay parents might have a "wierd" childhood is because of people like you always telling him his parents are "sinners" or are going to Hell. And by the way, heres a a little biology lesson for you. Humans are not the only animals, thats right ANIMALS, that that engage in homosexual behavior. Dolphins and many primates have been known to display homosexual tendencies, and even to engage in "gay" sex acts. While it is true that a man and a man or a woman and a woman cannot produce a child, let me ask you this. How often have you, or anyone for that matter, had sex either for the pleasure of it or to feel closer to your spouse/significant other? Maybe sex and love is not so much about reproduction but about simply being human. I am not gay myself, but I am intelligent enough to realize that no person should be denied such a basic right as marriage for any reason, which is more than I can say for you, since you can hardly even make a halfway competent argument for yourself.

Honestly it doesn't matter WTF you think or anyone thinks about GAY MARRIAGE, this is more of a concern of having the government be able to dictate who you can and can't marry.

Lets say we run into extraterrestrials, and they are sentient peaceful (or more powerful than us) beings and we all get along all happy doo-dah. Under current laws, our gov't forbids us from marrying one of those aliens. Thats bullshit, if i wanna marry a fucking alien I can marry a god damn alien.(pun intended)

The government does not have say in who I can and cannot dedicate my life to. Even then marriage is a religious ordeal, it should be left up to the religion and its advocates to enforce religious laws WITHIN the religion. Its also bullshit that these fuckers are running crying to the government saying people are breaking laws in their religion but theres shit they can do about it besides damn their soul to hell. So they beg the government to make it illegal so that said damned soul would face immediate repercussions in this world and be faced with fines/court and whatever bullshit they can do. GARBAGE.

    tl;dr footnotes:
    1) Gov't should have no say in religious affairs.
    2) Religious pansy bitches running to government and having them do shit because the religious pansy bitches can't do anything but "damn your soul".
    3) OP is a fag.
    4) ??????
    5) Profit.

Yea right.

You're arguing against being gay in general, and having same-sex couples raise kids.

    You're argument simplified:

Well...since theres man and woman, and I like women and I'm a man, everyone else has to like women if they're guys. Oh...and all women have to like guys. Its not like theres any reproductive value to having 2 guys or 2 women interlope.

It just doesn't hold water. (ie. condoms, birth control, pulling out, etc.)

So again, religion based or not, its not cool in any religion or demographic.
Whaaaaaat????? You're saying because you're not cool with it, and because its not cool in the major religions you know about, that its not cool in ANY religion or ANY demographic??? Damn....

I was watching the news a while ago and the head of a gay rights organization was being asked questions by a news reporter on the topic of nontraditional marriage and said he opposed other nontraditional marriages such as polygamy I thought that was very hypocritical, how can you say I think the gov should recognize my life stile but not others. Personally I think the gov should not issue any marriages only civil unions and churches should issue marriages.

It's a book....nothing more.
    excellent post.

it is amazing that separation of church and state is a joke.

this country is moving in the right direction I think. I mean just look back a century and some change, black people werent allowed to be married or vote etc.. It wasnt until the books were changed and equal rights were given to all races. We just elected a Black President , so time will be the only judge. Me not being gay has nothing to do with my stance. I do not care if gays get married. Im not gay and it has nothing to do with me. Prop 8 will be ok'd it will take some time.
