You know the same people that DIE everyday so that you can set here on the internet all day in a nice free country and spew your gibberish!

To me our armed forces opinion out weighs yours a million fold!

A comment like that from an Obama supporter! Now that's no surprise!

lol - i'm sorry you think your freedom is based of our our troops at war

unfortunately you are sadly mistaken. we are not anymore free today then we were pre 9/11 actually we are less free and due to 9/11 we have had more personal privacy taken away. spending 10 billion dollars a month on a pointless war doesn't justify anything; nor does who the military is voting for. our economy is # 1 issue on the hearts and minds of americans not war.

not always true. You can have all the money you need but still won't be safe without the military. You can have all the military you need but still be safe without the money. Theoretically speaking of course.

it doesn't matter, all of their absentee ballots will be lost in purgatory anyways.

That's a bunch of silly bullshit. Last time I checked we were attacked once, by a group of people whom we have yet to catch. We're the ones doing the invading. So don't kid yourself, and don't tell me my liberty is dependent upon toppling the governments of foreign countries who had little to do with the terrorist attacks America experienced. If America was being invaded, then they'd be protecting my liberties, but in the mean time, they're just expanding the influence of the empire I happen to live in. You hypocrite. You idiots are all the same, talking shit about "they're defending you're right to be lazy, and talk shit." No bro, they're defending the liberties of the Iraqi people. Not the American people. That's why it's called the Operation Iraqi freedom, not Operation American freedom. So before you spew out anymore silly bullshit, you might want to get a better grasp on the reality of the world you live in.

Contrary to popular belief, you are not protecting my freedom, by forcefully liberating people in the middle east. In fact you may be putting my freedom in further jeopardy, because every time the military screws up, and kills some innocent persons family, I guarantee you the survivors will have no problem participating in another 9/11.

Do I think Saddam deserved what he got? Absolutely. But I'm not a fool, and I know I'm not any safer because he's gone. The only gibberish I see here, is the mindless dribble coming out of the mouth of your thoughtless belief system. I'm sure you have the best intentions, but you haven't thought it through.

I agree with alot of what you say even though I do support the occupation in Iraq.

1 thing I do disagree with you though, we are safer now than we ever were under Clinton. There has been 2 minor attacks on US intrests since the invasion of Iraq. Neither of those attacks resulted in the loss of an American life. uring the Clinton admin, we had 3 attacks that resulted in the loss of human life. 1 WTC bombing, the coordinated attacks on the embassies in Kenya and Nairobi I believe they were, and the USS Cole.

That safety is because of the attention that Al Qaeda has been paying to Iraq. We have deat severe blows to the leadership in Iraq and internationally. We have severely diminshed their recruiting ability. We have installed a govt that as of right now are aligned with US intrests. The more influance we can have in the mid east the safer we are in the long run.

More immediate problems are stabilizing Iraq now that we did invade. If we leave before the job is done we will only leave the door open for Iran to take control either overtly or covertly. If that happens we will have MUCH bigger problems than we have now. I also think that if Iran makes an overt move towards Iraq it will cause Israel to attack Iran and bring us back into the area under much more unfriendly terms.

There is no way to see or know what may have been, but I think if we could, you may be surprised.

This does not happen nearly as often as many would have you beleive. Actually, with all the bureacracy and rules they follow, its very seldom.

not surprised but they discourage (or atleast they used to) associating with any one party. Which is why I laugh when people make a big deal out of Mccain's undecisiveness when he was picking his party.

It was exactly what I expected. The military has always been republican, but since 9/11 they have become even more republican.

1 thing that I found funny though. 45% of white voters thought character of the president be a top issue, while 18% of blacks did.

im not going on on my own opinion of what the military things. but i will go on my buddy who is in the army and what he said his unit would vote for. he told me he and the majority of his unity fucking hate mccain, now im not saying that its the whole military, but to have even a little bit of an animosity towards someone who could be your commander n cheif is rediculous.

I laugh at all your young stupidity!! You all are more then likely about to get what you want. A country full of ungrateful, self centered, cowards who want everything given to them instead of having to work for it. Who want freedom but don't want to have to fight for it!

No I have not. I tried to get in 3 times but my knee stopped all my hopes of entering. I even went threw 4 operations one of which left me off my leg for almost a year in hopes of being able to join.

Have you?? If it matters to you so much then I guess the bigger question you need to ask is if Obama has!!

I'm not going to go on and on about this.

It just upsets me when people talk down about our armed forces. Like they are a bunch of mindless drones! I have had dear friends and family members give their lives for this country. Yes I did mention them! I am proud of what they have done and are still doing!

Grow up people! Freedom is NOT free! You can not talk your way out of a confrontation with a mad man!

If Obama wins we will see how long it takes him to pull out of the middle east!

o.. so you criticize others when you didn't make the cut. I raised my right hand last month and grew up a military brat so let me remind you.. you don't speak for the military.

I've yet to earn my stripes but understand that we all have differences, do not question someone elses Patriotism based on standards you weren't able to live up to yourself. Opposing the Iraq war doesn't make me any less American than anyone else around here, its nothing more than a difference of opinion.

seriously man you make some seriously bold and dumb statements... military does have quite a bit of mindless drones in it; they have lowered the standards over the past 8 years so they could enlist more people in the military.

which mad man do you refer to? bush b/c he is the reason we are at war. i mean where are his WMD? com'on i mean are we in Iraq b/c they were involved w/ 9/11 or b/c we are finishing daddys work?

you obviously need to grow up and educate yourself.

Its no surprise that the military is more conservative. Its a volunteer military and many of those who join probably do so because they agree with the current policies. Those who disagree with the way things are going are less likely to enlist (or motivated by other factors like money, career training, etc)

The same poll taken in the 1968 election when there was a draft might very well have favored against the war-hawks.

And just to add, I think military should be first in line to vote. No questions asked. I don't care if they have to go to each and every one personally to get their vote.

As I have said before, the military is historicly republican so this poll is nothing new. My experiences have also shown there is also a HUGE disparty between active duty and and reserve units where reserve units I have been involved with have been more 50/50 between the parties.

I know it will never happen, and I know most people will disagree with me, but I think that anyone that wants to hold a federal public office (Represenative, Senator, POresident, VP) should have at least 1 term of military service. It only makes sense that the top military man in the country has some service as the low man on the totem pole.

Reserve units are much more laid back than Active Duty.. from what I've seen.

I tend to think everyone should be forced to serve 2 years out of high school.

^^well the leader of the country should have been responsible enough to not jump the gun and attack someone who didnt attack us. Now it FORCES an excuse like "we cant leave or it'll look bad" situation. So then EVERYONE can say, "oh, it yallz fault, so FIX IT." BS. So a rock and a hard place now exists and this could of been avoided simply by attacking our actual attackers and not someone else.

I wanted to do the Peace Corps, but unfortunately the government only wants to pay you reasonably if you help people by force, in accordance with their agenda, as in the military. I still might after college.

What would a dictator with an ego like saddam had, leave his own country for? I'm sure he didn't expect the U.S. to actually come in and remove him from power. This is only speculation of course, but he probably thought the U.S. would just threaten and not follow through. Maybe the U.N. would come in and look around like they had before, but nothing more than a stern letter from them would come from it as usual.

Do you really believe we would get U.N./world support for anything? Have we ever?
The U.S. puts more $$ into the U.N. than any other country in the world, by far, and gets the least support from it. Yes, we have some allies, and we need to support them to the best of our ability, but by no means will the "world" ever support us nor should we expect them to.PERIOD.

you kinda answered my question. if someone w/ an ego like saddam didn't think we were going to do anything why would he of sent his "WMD" out of the country and why was he hiding in a bunker?

as far as the UN we get the least support b/c we are starting the most shit... sorry but we stick our nose in everyone's business way too much. worst thing for us right now is to get McCain in office b/c we will be in Iran, Pakistan, or Korea w/ in the next 4 years.

As much as I disagree with it, we stick our noses in everyone's business, because everyone wants/expects us to. We are too nice. They talk trash behind our backs, but then when they need help, we are the first they call.

I think mccain knows better than to spred us that thin. Obama on the other hand doesn't want to spred us thin either, he just wants to cut defense spending.

oh i agree in a firm hand... if it was determined iraq was behind 9/11 i suggest go nuclear and worry about clean up later like japan. shit look at what our war did to them (one of world super powers now)

nothing wrong w/ cutting defense... its pretty retarded when we are spending billions like running water. that money should of been pumped into our economy in education, infrastructure, energy, etc. 25% of military budget is like 150 billion dollars (approx)... that money could easily be allocated to put the 40% of unemployed construction workers back to work here in the US repairing bridges/roads and building schools/hospitals/secure border, etc.

The military and intelligence was there Clinton got most of his cuts form too and it only made us more vunerable to attack.

Listen to where Obama wants to cut military though. Cuts in the upkeep of the nuke arsenal, cuts in modernizing, cuts in R&D. All of these things are what keeps us from being attacked. Having the best nuke arsenal keeps enemies from using nukes against us (MAD doctrine). Having the best weapons keeps enemies from attacking us conventionally. If anything we need to put moe money into modernizing and R&D for this new type of warfare we are seeing now.

Just payments made to personnel and veteran/retirees totals more than $125B of the $500B budget. That number does not include medical care and individual basic equipment for active and reserve components.

I agree, we are spending $$ much too freely. I say this because I don't think we could/should reduce defense spending immediately, but the next Pres. has to go over the budget and get things in order. Once this happens, we will be able to reduce these costs.

depends on what you call a weapon. As far as the military is concerned, info is every bit as much a weapon as a bomb is. One of the newest weapons is armed unmanned drones that have flight times of 30+ hours. As soon as those can be put to use on the battlefield it will make a large dent in the ability of using radio controlled roadside bombs as these drones can fly over convoy routes hours beforehand and catch some of the people looking to plant or detonate these bombs.
