in response to your PM:
low compression can cause a misfrire. do another compression test - check it "dry", then add about a half ounce (just a little pour) of engie oil to the low cylinder. if the compression goes up considerably, it is bad rings. if it stays the same, it is likely a valve issue, and the head needs to come off.
You're right - I have no idea what I'm talking about...
