I want to know the proper way to lower/slam a car to the ground.

I recently attained a 93 Del Sol. It has been lowered.. I believe on cut springs. I jacked the car up and I can't find any brand names.. and they look aged like they're stock. With the stock shocks. It rides/steers like crap. Rides semi-fine on the interstate, you just have to take it easy over bridges as to not bottom the car out.

The front lip sits 3"-3/4" off the ground. The header is 2"-11/16" off the ground. It's not easily daily drivable. So I'm now in the market to build the suspension back to spec.

I've heard a lot of people say look into the Skunk shock/spring set, but I was wondering what else I need to make the car more stable. I wouldn't mind the car coming up about an inch to an inch and a half. I just want to know the Right parts I would need to make it more handling friendly. Every slammed civic/teg/honda I've ever driven rides like a go cart, but they all had cut springs and stock shocks.

if you want to do it right spend some money. no lowering springs, no ebay coilovers, no cut or heated springs on stock struts.

Fully adj coilovers is the way to go
theres plently of brands to choose from

but bang for the buck GC coilovers with kyb AGXs, or konis, or tokico

my old civic wiith fully adj omni powers on the rear, tokico blues with GC coilovers on the frt.
with 16 slips and i can could of gone down 2 more inches if i wanted to.
tuckin rim in the back. and about the same on the front

Coilovers and shocks are just the beginning. Think about a sway bar combo as well.

adjustable coilovers-dont go with ebay brand if your picky their typically bouncy.i have a del sol with some ebays and dont get me wrong it handles really well but they are bouncy. i also have a camber kit. a lot of the time you lower a sol youll get camber wear unless you do some adjusting. get a used camber kit i never really cared brand name on a camber kit you can tell the quality by looking at it just make sure its not cheap metal or bolts. used like $30-$50. and get a coilover set.they can run from $50 -thousands.get something a little higher quality on those or else you'll noticed why they were priced cheap.as long as its a semi-heard of name your fine.hope that helped man.

and yes for a start. the only coilover sleeve type i trust are ground controls. bc you can get them at different spring rate or your choice.
and the struts are a personal thing, youll just have to go through them to see which ones you like the best.

a camber kit and a sway bar kit as well.

and dnt forget about extended top hats that are out there to help with the life of your struts, and the rebound of them. you can find these on ebay, or GC

Koni Yellow/Ground Control. Thats what im riding on right now and love it. I got a little stiffer spring rate so I wont say it rides like its stock...its a bit stiff...but the ride is very nice and fun to drive. The shocks have lifetime warranty and are also adjustable. Lookup THmotorsports on Hondatech...got mine from them for $799 shipped a few months ago.
