Civic major BRAKE problem

theres been a thread already posted but mines a different case..
i recently changed the rear caliper on the sedan..
i bled the system about 10times on that side. the pedal seemed too low..
bled it 5more times, came up to normal height.
but once the pedal is bein pressed for a long time it sinks down almost to the floor n i have to repump it...
i bled the other rear break just incase .. and just now as i was drivin the pedal didnt come up. when it was suppost to n my brakes went out for a second, pedal came up n now its fine... what can be this problem?

well im sure if its a leak you should see fluid around the calipers or lines somewhere. If not then your brake booster could have busted.
No lines or bolts cross threaded and leaking air in ?

If your pedal is going to the floor its, air in the system, Leak, or Master cylinder. Seeing as it worked fine before your caliper change, I'd check for leaks at the brake caliper hose connection, and also bleed the shit out of it.

ive bled the caliper i changed like almost 15-20times, tomorro will stop by a brake specialist and get a second opinion

Since the MC Reservoir is the same for both front and back brakes, If the level of fluid dropped enough in the master cylinder reservoir while you were changing the rear brake caliper, it is possible that you may have sucked air into the front brake system. You need to bleed all of the brakes. Try that before taking it to someone else and spending cash.


I doubt its your Booster as its a metal rod that goes from your pedal to the piston of your MC with a vaccum diaphragm (SP) in the middle. If i was broken the pedal should be loose as shit. Do you hear a vacuum leak coming from the booster? Seeing as you're talking about the pedal being low I'm assuming you don have heavy pedal effort. Therefore more than likely your booster is just fine.

i just had the same sinking problem on a 92 Accord wagon. The fix - brand new OEM master cylinder. No more pedal to the floor. Expensive but effective lol.

if it were your brake booster, the pedal would be stiff and hard to push.
