Lots of BS in this thread.
If you do want to do the RB26 swap, do a lot of research. If you have any questions with the swap feel free to PM me. I would also look into getting in touch with people that actually know a lot about the RB26, like cool cat racing (in sig), cause you're gonna hear a bunch of biased BS on here.
Check out www.freshalloy.com forums also.
2JZ handling more power on a stock block: False. There used to be a GTR in Aussie land that dragged with over 1800 hp on the stock block. I'll see if I can dig up some vids when I get a chance. Show me a 2JZ with that on a stock block.
2JZ having more torque: True. RB26's shine at high rpm, and can easily go well above thier stock redline.
2JZ power being cheaper: True. In america, simply because the RB's are not on every corner here. But if you want cheap HP, then do a LS1 swap. Lighter than both the RB and 2JZ also.
Yes, because its easier to get parts for since the skyline wasn't sold here. Which do you think is more popular in japan or aussie land? The RB26 easily.Originally Posted by plv
Parts can be hard to find at first, but once you establish some links you'll be fine. Just spend a little time looking before you buy, some people will try to rape you on prices cause they think they are hard to find. They aren't.
Both are great engines, but the 2JZ has no more potential than an RB26. The RB26 is not a practical swap in the US when compared, but people with RB26's dont buy them for practicallity over here.
