    Default KA24DE

    Sup guys
I got a couple of questions
On the DOHC KA, how the hell do you take off the intake mani, I mean I have all the bolts off except for the ones under the intake mani pipes, the one where no tool can f**kin reach?
Also, HOW THE HELL CAN THE SIX BOLTS ON THE FLYWHEEL COME OFF, that shits a PAIN, I tried WD40 and a hell of alot of muscle and these bi**hes wont even budge
Also agian, same problem as above, except with the driveshaft, where it bolts to the tranny, those how ever many bolts there are, how the hell can they come off, none of my tool are small enough to get a perfect fit on them.
And the last thing, will the SOHC water pump fit on DOHC? And where the hell can I find a damn oil pan, either stock or aftermarket, for the the DOHC

Sorry for all the question, these things just have me a bit aggrevated

    Thanks alot guys

I'll sell you an oil pan $40.00
use an impact on the flywheel bolts
and you probably mean where the driveshaft comes together eith the diff, use an open end wrench on those 4 nuts, there is no other way I know of

Imma have to buy an impact and all that, now I have a reason to

No not whre the driveshaft meets the diff, I mean where the drivesshaft meets the tranny, but the real question is, where can I unbolt it so I can take the engine and tranny out?

I have a used water pump for a s14, it should fit the s13 dohc, it was in good working condition when it was taken off. If you're interested, [email protected]

I'm also going to shoot myself in the foot by telling you about pinnacle nissan, it's a dealership in Arizona I tihnk? Search pinnacle nissan on google, go to their parts page, they have awesome wholesale prices, and good service. you can find just about any OEM nissan part there at a much lower price than dealers here.
I think they sell the pump for about $80, I'll let mine go for $30. Good luck.
Please tell me if you think my car looks good. But don't tell me if you think it's ugly - only on IA

do not use a open end wrench on the driveshaft, take a flat head and push back the metal plat on the diff side, then work in the boxed end wrench, think it is a 12, you may have to lightly tap it in with a hammer

Ya I got the driveshaft disconected where it connectes to the diff. I used pretty much what you said, but then I went to the other side and I kicked it to loosen it, lol
But my question is, im taking the engine out of the car with the tranny, will the drivesshaft get stuck anywhere? also, how far am i going to have to have the engine hoist back so teh tranny and driveshaft can clear the engine bay.
    OR
is it just better just to disconnect the tranny from the engine, I REALLY dont want to do that, but if thats what I have to do, then alright

    Thanks

im sure it'll be easier taking the motor + tranny out, in the end that is.
why are you keeping your driveshaft on your tranny when youre taking the motor/tranny out?
wtf? just disconnect it at the tranny, jeez.

only bitchy thing about removing the motor+tranny as two is is that you have to unbolt all the bolts thats holding the tranny on the motor, which is.. 10?8? i forget.

See, I would dissconected the driveshaft where the trnny is, but the bols dont move, at all, so its either taking the whole tranny with driveshaft or dissconecting the trany fromt he motor

    Alright
The six flywheel bolts are still STUCK
they have been heated and still nothing, I think my last option is to buy an impact?

Also, Does anyone have the size of the hex key that I need to take off the cylinder head bolts? and while its off, should I change the head gasket?

    still not using the fsm?
anyways.. are you still on the clutch job??
i'll need to do my clutch soon too.. how did it go?

probably to take the flywheel bolts off, stick a screwdriver or someting in the flywheel teeth and budge it up agasint something, now get a breaker bar and loosen them bolts.
    6 bolts, right?

or.. you can ALWAYS get an impact.. i got one a few weeks back.. made my life SO much easier when i was working on my bro's car.

    *threadjack*
i have a HF impact for sale if you need it.
30 bux takes it.. never used.

Ya im using the FSM but it isnt helping me, it doesnt give me the information im looking for.
And ya im still on that damn clutch job, shits a pain, hardest thing is taking off the flywheel which I still havent been able to do

I got an impact and it STILL did not nothing so its all about that man power now
im going to take one breaker on the crank pully bolt and another on one of the bolts on the flywheel and try that bitch, if not that, then try sticking something inbetwen the teeethor something, its a pain in the ass though

And about the impact, how much power does it put out at what pressure?

Buy an aftermarket flywheel done mess with the factory one, just my 2 cents.

An aftermarket one will weigh less then 1/2 what the stock one does... a machine shop wont be able to take off that much weight safely... also they will likely charge a grip to do it. When i called around about that exact service on my eclipse they told me 2 things 1, dont do it and 2, if they do it it would cost 50 for the "resurface" and 125+ for the lightening. that means about 175-200 out the door, a new flywheel that is half the weight is ~330.00..

I think it was 10mm on the head bolts.

You must change the head gasket once you pull the head off.. unless it is a reuseable one which it likely isnt.

I dont see why not.. there is plenty of room around the intake for it to clear, assuming it were larger.
