    Default Importing/Obtaining a STATE LEGAL Skyline 33-34GTR?

Okay guys. Now before the flaming begins please at least read the post in its ENTIRETY first!

I have read countless posts on importing a Nissan Skyline to the US and I know that for all intents and purposes it is close to impossible to get a Fed legal Skyline here. I also know that Motorex is the ONLY place to get a FED legal Skyline and they are down for the count right now. All of this I know. I also know that you can import a Skyline as a Kit-Car or a show only car and get it here relatively easily. Of course however you have the obvious risk of having your car confiscated. I also realize that only an RI can import a car into the states. Once again ALL of this I know.

    Now here is my issue:

I live in Atlanta, GA. In the state of GA it is very easy to register just about any vehicle as long as you have a title for the vehicle. That is the background.

Now what I am interested in is obtaining a STATE LEGAL Nissan Skyline 33-34GTR. I am not interested in obtaining a FED legal one. I just want to obtain a 33-34 Nissan Skyline GTR that I can register in the state of GA, even if I cant go register it in Cali and the sort. As stated above I realize that there is a risk to this, however it is one I am not too worried about. In the state of GA as long as your vehicle is registered legally the cops let you do damn near whatever you want. Also emissions are not going to be a problem for me as I will be registering it in a county without emission requirements. Essentially all that I need is a Nissan Skyline 33-34GTR and a title so that I can register it. That is the information on what I want to do. Now for my points/questions.

I will probably be financing a large portion of my vehicle through a finance company. Chances are it will be a specialty company that finances exotic/classic cars if I cant find a normal finance company that will finance a 95-2000 vehicle. I would assume, but want to make sure, that this would mean that I need to get the vehicle here in the US so that I can give the check to the seller. Or would it still be possible to import the vehicle and still have it financed?

If so, who are the best companies/RI’s to get a STATE LEGAL 33-34GTR imported to me? I know there are countless scams online and companies that just take you for your money. I want to make sure that I am using a company with a reliable reputation. If the best/most cost effective way to get it done is as a kit car then that is fine as well. As I said, as long as I can get a title for it registering it is not a problem. I am just trying to figure out what the best way to do this is. Any specific company/RI recommendations would be appreciated. Be it Kit car or whole car.

Otherwise I would of course have to get one that is already in the states for finance purposes. What would be the best way to go about locating and obtaining one of these? From my research they are pretty hard to find. Most people are advertising MotRex cars and prices even if they may not really be Fed legal. I don’t want to pay Motorex prices for one of these cars, especially when I only need it to be state legal.

Thank you very much for the help in advance guys. I know that the importation subject has been BEATEN to death however 99.9% of the topics are on FED legal vehicles not STATE legal vehicles. Feel free to offer any constructive comments and information. Anything that will help in my quest is greatly appreciated. On a side note, I have already located a number of specialty finance companies that finance exotic/classic cars, but if anyone has a specific finance company that will finance 95-2000 cars they would like to recommend I would greatly appreciate that as well, be it specialty or conventional. Once again thanks for the help, I truly do understand the difficulty and near impossibility of obtaining an FED legal Nissan Skyline 33-34GTR. However for the most part, as long as I can get one here to Atlanta with a title, I can easily make it STATE legal. Thanks.

Now HOW may I ask was that post relevant or benificial in any way, shape or form? I have a serious legitimate question. The car is not illegal as it would be legally registered here in GA. It is just that I may not be able to legally register it in other certain states. I am not asking how to illegaly obtain the car. All I am saying is that I dont need to have it federal legal so I can register it everywhere. State Legal will suffice for me. Please refrain from posting if you have no way to add to the thread. Thanks.

lol, do you know who he is by any chance? Do you know how many times this topic as been beat to death on every forum? Go through florida, there's a loop hole to registering it there then simply transfer the title here and register through the state of Georgia.

Whoops! Well excuse me then. I do apoligize for the rudeness. I must have misunderstood your post. The person you are referring to is Hiro over at MotoRex. I assumed you were trying to imply I was attempting to do something illegal and I should look to him to see what happens when you try.

If that is not the case, I do once again apoligize. Could you please give me the information necessary to utilitze this lopehoole or direct me to the necessary people in order to do so? Thanks a lot. Once again I do apoligize for me misunderstanding of your post.

Also would you happen to know if I can finance a vehicle which I have imported over? And maybe someone you recommend? Thanks.

or, since he has an evo. he sells it
takes that money and buys one
or takes a ::gasp:: personal loan. with the car counted as collateral, so its a "car" loan.

.... humm..... it appears that the simple task of reading is not something you are capable of....

Now that may very well be true of conventional finance companies, however WTF do you think EXOTIC finance companies do?! If the thing can be gotten here is it NOT FUCKIN EXOTIC!

You should really consider doing research and making informed statements before you make yourself look like a dumbass.....

Well why not go ahead and send me over a GTR34!

Just out of curiosity, why would you ever finance a car like this? IMO, financing a 'toy' is quite ignorant. If you can't afford to pay cash for a toy, you don't deserve it. Nor do you need it.

For that money, I'd build an K-1 Attack and be exotic about it.

But yea, I'm no different. I'm a Skyline addict like you're. That's why I bought the G35 aka Nissan Skyline and play with it. I'm still waiting for the new GTR to come out so I can be ballin'

Financing isn't a problem, but it's the matter of maintain it.
    1. Keep up with the payment
    2. Parts availability

Is your annual income at least 2x the cost of the vehicle that you're planning to purchase?

Those types of finance companies normally only cater to those who have plenty of money to throw away...offer longer terms but have higher interest rates.

Now we are all entitled to our opinion.... but consider the ludicrously of what you are saying. That would in turn mean, that if you cant not pay cash for any car all all then do not finance it? How is me buying a Skyline any different then an Acura TL or Mercedes Benz? Is it just the fact that the Skyline is an exotic car? Which means no matter how much money you make... if you cant buy a Lambo cash, you shouldn’t buy it? Consider what you say, it doesn’t make sense. Same goes for Classic cars and such. Its actually more financially sound to finance something often times than pay cash, especially if you get a low rate. Reason being it leaves the cash you DO have available liquid for other investments. However, as I said, we all ARE entitled to our opinions.

Making the payment is not a problem at all. I am actually replacing my EVO IX MR with a Nissan Skyline. It will actually be a little less expensive.

Believe it or not, parts are not a problem at all. Almost all of you basic parts are interchangeable with vehicles Nissan did sell domestically. Such as the G35 and 300ZX Turbo.

As for the third question, yes it is.. As I said I will actually be lowering the cost of the car getting rid of my Evo IX MR for a Skyline.

Those types of finance companies normally only cater to those who have plenty of money to throw away...offer longer terms but have higher interest rates.

Believe it or not, many specialty finance companies offer QUITE competitive rates. Normally unless you are financing through a primary finance company, ie. ford, Nissan, Mercedes. The best rate you can get on a used car is about a 7.25% rate. Keeping in mind a credit union may do a slightly lower rate. All in all however normally those specialty finance companies offer the same as if not better rates on cars, especially ones more then 3yrs old.

Believe me gentlemen, I am not some punk kid who just saw FF2 and wants a Skyline. I am a grown man, making ample income to afford one. I have also done almost all of the necessary research before posting here. My reason for posting is because I am about ready to procure one and was trying to figure out the best method to do so. Thanks for all the help.

I believe that I stated above that you may get a lower rate from a credit union... However, that is not the point nor is it relevant in any way shape or form, unless you are saying that your credit union will finance a 1995 vehicle. Thanks.
