    How much boost can a stock dsm motor hold? Are froged pistons supposed to sound like there knocking?

    1) They can hold exactly 4534185613.123 lbs of boost.

    2) Yes, if they are knocking.

    You can easily run up to 20 lbs. of boost on the stock 14B. Hell I ran 20 lbs. on the T-25. Im not saying it ran efficiently but it pulled never the less. With a DSM you need to follow a very simple upgrade path.

    1. Fuel Pump (Walbro 255)
    2. Fuel Pressure Regulator (Rising Rate Style. Stay away from the bullshit B&M)
    3. AFC (Self Explanitory)
    4. 550cc Injectors (Makes life a little more simple.)


    Following that simple path and 20 lbs on a 14b will make for some fun driving.

    Speaking of which, I have some RC 550cc injectors for sale.

    Oh and you probably don't wanna run more than 17/18 psi on the turbo because after that it will just be blowing hot air and not doing you any good.

    Froged pistons sound like = ribbit if they are croaking!

    An old friend of mine ran the 14B on his 96 AWD GSX and ran a 12.9 at commerce. I believe he was running around 20psi when he ran it.

    i ment forged pistons. but thanks the advice. is that i m going to boost up and i wanted toknow how much it could hold until i crack or break something. Thanks Guys

    Why would you put a 14b on a 2g? Its bigger than a t25 but not by much.

    The 14B is a HUGE upgrade from the T-TooSmall... Been there done that. Trust me when I tell you that it's night and day difference.

    True true. But you do the lines and the pipe change and then find a decent 14b for 20 bucks I can see your point.

    On a 2g if you are buying new for the money after you purchase the install kit and 16g you can instead get a bolt on T3/T4. The pump gas kings.

    I like the crazy brackets on the compressor on real oem 20g's. They look so goofy.

    Ohh, I had just seen this and others like on T00n3rs pulling 500whp on 93 octane with 50 trims.

    503whp/442torque!! All on 93 octane and a 50 trim turbo! Here is the dyno sheet: I dynoed the car at Turbotrix's AWD dyno. She is really moving. Running out of fuel with 720cc ND injectors. Will opt for 880cc injectors soon.

    Anyone have any dyno sheets or links to 20g powered cars that top that with pump gas? I am very interested in seeing.

    Wish we had a Dyno here.......

    There are 5 SERIOUS DSM guys here. One runs a t66 on 93 Octane, another runs a Bastard 20G on 93, another runs a 20g on the same, one runs an evoIII, and then me.
    Untuned, the t66 ran a 6.9 in the 1/8th (only track)
    The others, being tuned, run 7.3, 7.9, 6.4 (Nitrous, 75 shot to spool turbo), and 9.4, respectively.


    And to answer the question

    1) Forged pistons on a stock 14b can run about 18-19 to stick with the efficiency range, if you get a turbo big enough, they hold 45 depending on brand and supporting mods.

    2) They should not sound like they knock, unless they are.

    We are mostly heads up racing, so thats how we ESTIMATE horsepower.

    back to 91DSM's post, my buddy is running 23psi on a 6bolt, the dyno showed that he wasnt losing power by doing so, and my buddy with a 2g is running 23psi on a 16g, both are on stock head gaskets and head studs, and have been doing it for two years now

    Is dat with stock internals? Cuz The mods i have now r intake 3" inch open down pipe an safc2 dat is not installed at this momment since i dont need it and a brand new exhaust manifold gasket which is not realy a mod. but yea dats basically it. wat ya think?

    see i have stock internals da question bout da pistons where for my bro. but yea i really want to know untill where can i boost up 2? wit stock internals though.

    Your biggest problem when you turn up the boost on the smaller turbo's is the intercooler heat soaking. The T25 or 14B "above" 17 psi heat soak bad on the stock intercooler. If you upgrade the intercooler you can run upwards of 20 psi without any loss in power. If you are making back to back runs at the drag strip, try spraying the intercooler down with a water hose in between runs. Running water, alcohol, or methanol injection will help tremendously.

    On my stock 7 bolt 4G63, I personally ran 21 psi on a big16G and pump gas with all the supporting mods. On race gas I ran 25 psi. Unfortunately on a fwd car with 330whp on pump gas, you spin everywhere you go.

    When I was on a 14B, I couldn't make anymore power running above 18 psi with my supporting mods. 20 psi would just heat soak the intercooler and yield slower times.

    but normally aftermarket pistons wil be a lil noisy with piston slap

    With the biggest front mount in the world over 20 psi on a 14b is just dead. Not because of the heat but because it hits the wall on its effiency range. Compressor maps of that turbo are pretty good till about 20psi.


    And whats up with "da" problems and 'dis" shit? Talk normally.

    The only thing is that i dont want to blow my shit so im going to boost it up to like 18 psi or 16. hopefuly i wont blow my stock internals.

    a slogn as you have a good leakdown, and compression test, and your cooling system is up to par, you WILL be fine

    Every car is different and in different shape. Get a tune with a wideband and make sure you're running a good a/f ratio.

    I'm assuming you have a stock turbo with stock fuel and stock intercooler. Run 15 max until you upgrade fuel then IC then turbo.
