Default Stock intake w/spoon filter? (DC2)

Should I take out my intake and run with my stock with the exception of spoon's filter? I read that spoon stated that the stock intake be kept to work better with "vtec" but with the help of spoon's filters. Anyone think this is a good idea? LMK! Because I got my stock intake in my trunk and can order the filter today.

yes you should, and you should send me the intake! kidding. It's my understanding that an intake is an intake is an intake... all that really matters is the filter... makes sense. intake is just a tube. The more air, the merrier!

Fuck stance. Stance is for kids in skinny jeans with Justin Beiber haircuts. You don't need stance when you got swagger.

fat straigt generic 5$ ebay intake tube plus this filter = good a$$ intake!

    apc intimidator.
i know apc is rice b/s but for the money thas a good filter!

ive had every brand of intakes, and ive seen many dyno test.
to tell you the truth, there is no difference! lol
    really there is not
    metal is metal
    BUTTTTT
if you can get an iceman plastic intake
thats the best thing to get IMO
plastic keeps MUCH cooler then metal does.
    MUCH MUCH COOLER
I had a buddy of mine mold a custom Cold air intake for mine out of some GOOD quality plastic, super thick, and it shoots super cold air in. ANd ive got an air filter i cought on sale for 15$ at pepboys, and its pretty much the best filter ive ever had. Its awesome.

I replaced this intake with an injen intake, and i tell you, the plastic ghetto made one, outperforms the injen.
PLastic = better then metal when it comes to intakes.
Also when you get a filter, steer away from filters that have lots of metal and bling bling on it
try to get one that has no metal on it what so ever except maybe for around the filter, but only a micro fine mesh.
thats the secret you need to know.
    less metal = the better
    cooler air

The only intake I would honestly recommend is the AEM v2. It really genuinely makes a performance difference. Works really well, and it's the newest thing so the bling factor is there

Was thinking about fabricating an icebox for the filter but now I'm pondering the idea of keeping my comptech and putting the stock box on the end of it with a cone filter inside and run some sort of vent from the box...I wanna play with it on the dyno but will br getting a j's racing or passwordjdm carbon fiber elephantitis intake soon.

I heard if you use the stock air box with the spoon filter and change the tubing that, that gets you the most power because the stock tubing has all those scrunchy things in them which resticts air flow.

lol, SSR owns me...i have one of their beautifully CNC machined perfectly with an O-ring and all centercaps on my desk. Hopefully we can get them trued (soft magnesium alloy) to use for slicks soon.
