Default Car will not idle correctly.

I have a b20 with ls head and am running a obd1 LS ECU. The car will crank, and if you apply the appropriate amount of throttle will stay on. You can drive the car fine, but when you try to let the car idle it dies everytime. So to drive I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it from dieing while sitting at red lights. I have already replaced the IACV. And tried rearranging some plugs that are the same. And nothing seems to fix the problem. Any ideas?

And, there is no random rev limiter or bogging either. Drives just fine when you are normal driving. (Or ricer driving)

My car is doing the same thing... But when I plug out the sensor in the back of the TB it would stop until I turn the car off and start it back up

timing curves are close since you're running the ls head, but the fuel curves are not since it's larger displacement. blacknightteg was having the same issues until i tuned it.

had the same issues with my sedan not too long ago

if you're running an obd2 IACV with an obd1 ecu, it'll need to be re-wired, or the correct valve will need to be used. The 3 wire IACV has a reference ground that the obd1 computer isn't recognizing as it only uses a 2 wire circuit.

Try backing the idle screw ( big flat head screw ) out a bit on the throttle body.

Troubleshoot. Check Throttle body,TPS, IACV, MAP. I had a simliar problem. No need to tune. That's a waste of money for a simple problem.

Had this same setup many times with many cars, and never had it tunned on a stock motor...

sounds like a vaccum leak, or a small idle adjustment..

    Tunning doesnt fix everything

on a stock motor with a stock set up correct.. Unless its fully built, or boosted I agree 100% with you

this might be the proble, also your coolant might not reached the tb and or has a air pocket.....

clean and adjust the tb and see if that works.. also search for vaccum leaks, and make sure you have coolant full with no air pockets

Pull the throttle body off and make sure that none of the air passages are blocked by the gasket into the intake.

daniel try checkin the tps sensor, make sure its in the correct position. i was havin idle problems for hte longest time, and that was one of the causes. is your IACV good? what about your throttle screw? could also be your throttle cable

I have already tried two IACVs. And the idle screw and throttle cable. I ran my codes last night, and the only one I'm throwing is IACV. But I have NO idea why. I've tried 2 ECUs as well.

is the sensor itself bad? not the IACV, i mean clearer something may be wrong with that if you have tried two ECU's

I'm at a loss. I know I have my plugs right, because All of them are plugged up and I'm only throwing IACV code.

if you have a known IACV and its still throwing that code. then you must have no coolant going into the throttle body so you need to bleed your system out and make sure you IACV is good also..

maybe you should check the wiring from the iacv to the ecu since its setting codes and youre sure that the right plug is being used.

This definatly could be the case. If they are reversed, it wont take long to burn up the IAT and you will be getting a code for that too.

You misunderstand. I re-wired just the IACV to the ECU and it cleared itself.

    this

my sisters car did the same thing. it would turn on fine and everything but as soon as you come to a stop the car will turn off. went to the dealership and they said it was the throttle body, that it was dirty. they clean it/flushed it and the car works perfectly again.

see this was funny to me because your car doesn't have a "MAF". Mass Air Flow Sensor.. it runs off a map sensor instead.
