    Default b20/vtec questions?? help??

ok i have a b20b block and am currently building it, i have a few questions and im sure some of you know what your talking about.

Im putting a gsr head on it that i already have just waiting on the head bolts to come in,

    ok so here's the questions,

    1. can someone tell me exactly how i adjust the head timing (the cams) to the proper way?
    2. do i need to get a gsr water pump or can i use the b20 water pump?
    3. is there a certain type of distributor i need?
    4. i have the p28 ecu so do i need to get it chipped or is it already vtec ready? and if i do have to get it chipped, is that an easy process?
    5. what type of timing belt do i need? b20 or gsr?

i do believe that is all the questions i need answered, any help at all would be greatly appricated.
**im sure these sound like dumb questions, but im just wanting to make sure im doing everything right**
and i have tried looking up the information myself but im not having any luck.

you can either post the answers here or pm them.
and if you really know what your doing (or have done this swap before) and live in columbus then pm so we can meet up to help me, (will pay of course)

    thanks.

1: Unless you have adjustable cam gears and can properly degree your cams in you need them to be at 0-0. If you dont know how to do a timing belt I recommend reading up on it. or getting someone who knows how.VERY important

    2. Whatever waterpump you are getting, make sure to match the timing belt to it, IE: LS pump LS timing belt, GSR WP GSR tb

3.B series vtec dizzy, either obd 2 or 1, can be rewired accordingly depending on what you need

4.P28 is vtec ready, however I recommend chipping and getting a basemap to run your setup, then tuning it.

    5. see # 3
    pretty much explains it.

with #1, he's not joking with it. you mess that up, you might end up getting a new motor.

and i think on #5 he means look at the answer to #2. i read that didn't quite make much sense. #2 does.

    1. Listen to DaGreat
    2. GSR or any other 22T water pump
    3. Dizzy depends on your harness
    4. You could run off the P28, but it's still running of the SOHC MAP.......

the p28 maps are not good for the b20vtec and there are no stock maps for them. only ones that we've already tuned or a tune on your specific setup. chipping is easy.

let us know if we can assist.

p75 (as long as it's obd1) is chippable, but would have to have additional components added to it to make it vtec. it's possible to do (i do it all the time), but it's not vtec ready as it is.

what you have is fine (as long as it's an obd1 p75). if you can get a p28 cheap it'll still need to be chipped.
