clutch question, input needed.
alright, so ive been going back and forth on a clutch setup for my swap.
IA, would you run a badass clutch with a stock flywheel? pros and cons would be nice.
would keeping the stock heavy ass flywheel defeat the purpose?
just throw some opinions at me.
Like a 6 puck clutch or something along those lines?
a lightweight flywheel will just make the engine rev a tad bit quicker. it will not effect how well the clutch grabs. but if you do wind up using a stock/used flywheel i do recommend having it turned.

If you plan on DD'ing it as much as you do, then i'd recommend you stay with a full disc. If you do get a lightweight flywheel, you may lose a little top end too..

if i did go aftermarket on both, this is what i was looking at. cant afford CompClutch on both clutch and flywheel..lol

if you are gonna replace it with a new one, i say spend a little extra bread and get the lightweight. alot of aftermarket flywheels have replaceable contact pads so in theory you will never have to buy another flywheel or have it turned, just buy a new pad. plus of course its gonna help unlock a couple ponies.if i did go oem i was going to get a brand new one so i dont think that would be needed. i just feel like if i get a new one might as well spend a little more and go aftermarket.

I've heard either great or horrible feedback on the F1 and xtd clutches like that on ebay. I haven't ever bought one, so i can't really say for m.. haha.
And that my friends, is how they reel you in. Lol.
lol. i had an xtd stage 1 with 11lb flywheel in my old accord, and it was alright. grabbed ok and the pedal wasnt too stiff or too soft. then again i only drove it about 100 miles before i sold it. lol
1/5 of the break in.. Lol.

any flywheel lighter than 11 lbs is annoying to drive.
anything higher than stage 2 clutch is a fucking annoyance to drive.
what does a really light flywheel feel like to drive?
ive always had either stock or the 11lb i talked about.
i bought that ebay kit but i went with the stage 3 because i read on honda tech that ne thing lower than stage 3 are crap.
but my clutch lasted about 5 months tops and i only drive mine for racing. its not a DD.
i just bought a comp clutch that i am about to install and bought a new friction plate for my lightweight flywheel for $60 at summit
Like others have said, if you DD this vehicle, keep the full disc and stock flywheel. I drove my friends boosted Si with a light ass flywheel...it SUUUCKED.

it just revs pretty fast and the response is quick..
but i say get that one stock fw that was lighter than the others and a stock clutch..

Plus, lighter flywheel better for say...auto-x. Stock flywheel better for drag. Lighter flywheel will make you lose some on your launch.

its only stage 1 so its basically a stock clutch, and its the same price as a stock clutch from autozone. i will probably run this and a stock flywheel.

The ligher flywheel puts less strain on your crank and is better for faster shifting. but it also makes your revs drop much faster also.

it makes sense, a 18lb object spinning has more snatch than a 8lb object spinning.
if it were me, id 8lb that flywheel and get a 6puck with a strong pressure plate, makes future drivers miserable lol

Maybe I'm wrong, but I've always heard that like was mention before, the lighter flywheel will bog off the line in a launch, while the heavier flywheel snatches harder.

my old car with 8lb'er and a 6puck felt faster going from 1st - 3rd than stock, but then again.. my buttcheeks could be lieing to me
hell, i've got a CC stage 2 with a stock flywheel.... drives just fine
you have it reversed.
i had the same setup in my ef. it was fine till you got to sit in some traffic. then it was cable clutch + 2200lb pressure plate =in traffic.
