so i just picked up a 1990 240sx and when i start the car the motor moves around alot like it needs motor mounts but the guy i got it from said it came with really soft mounts from the factory thats why it was moving around is this true???

some movment is normal sounds like bs, buy some new mounts.

it could be bad injector....it might be running on 3 cylinders. might want to start the car and unplug the injector one by one. it happned to my bro's car.

All 240's had the same mounts. If they haven't been replaced yet I can pretty much bet you that at least one is bad. You can pick up a good set of used ones or just get the Nismo set. The Nismo set is only slightly more than one new one and has both engine mounts and a tranny mount. Most S13's I work on have at least one bad/going bad mount. If the motor runs smooth but moves around then at least one of the mounts is bad.

all S-13's other than the ones with Rb motrs in them use basiclly the same motor mounts you can go to any part store and get them the main thing to wear out is the transmission mount the rubber bushing just goes followed by the motor mounts if you want a stiffer mount use Nismo ones cause some of the other ones i have used just make the car raddle if they are to stiff depends on what you are using it for race daily ect will depend on your set up
