    Default MINI ME

Ok. I have a 92 eg Ferio LX (d15b7) and I have the wiring harness, vtec ecu, and a y8 head. i know i need to take the head to the shop to have the valves resurfaced and my friend is hooking me up with a intake manifold for the y8. My question is however; what other precautions should I take so I do NOT blow this motor???

    thanks guys

nothing against you,but for us single guys its a lot.you gain 25-30 hp and the great v-tec.be sure to pull the oil jet,and re-pin ecu or run a v-tec controller.the easier would be the z6 head better flow and the wiring is a lot easier.be sure to get all new gaskets...if you need help lmk

thanks man! and if I run into any problems I'll PM you.

    p.s.
I heard that the y8 head has better flow, and the z6 has less flow but more torque...which is true?

that would also be a no go,go with the y8 head gasket and remove the middle layer and it will bump the comp up.then reuse your headbolts and put a extra 5 pounds of torque on them.i did it never had a problem

u was going good until u said to destroy a head gasket for a cheap bump in comp. then to reuse old head bolts. u just set this man up for a blown head gasket.

Surface your valves? You mean surface your head? Get your valves adjusted? Get an intake manifold and exhaust manifold and get it ported to match for a nice flow. Get a valve job for a little extra flow too.

to be honest not really...you say cheap but i never had any problems with mine and i had it for a year and beat the hell out of it and couldnt blow it..if you want to get that head gasket go ahead and the head studs to.but you gotta know i did mine on a cheap budget.

you might as well get a new timing belt, cause i had a jdm 91 d15b and i put a y8 head on it and i found that the belt lenght are way different, it wouldnt hurt to get a new belt anyway, but you have to do some serious **** to blow a d-series! good luck

neither the z6 head or y8 head flow any better ,.... its the intake manifold ... the y8 flows better ... the head flows the same .so get a z6 head with a y8 manifold .. but i agree with these guys ... coming from past experience your better off leaving the d15 alone and enjoy the mpg or go b series .... i spent close to 700 $ on my mini me .and it was a WASTE OF MONEY then and it would be a waste now unless its gfoing into a CRX ... if not .. your wasting time ..

i know me and my buddy were gonna do it in a rex..the z6 head on a a6 block and the p29 pistons is rumored to have close to 12.1.1 compression

wasted money .. i did all that on my mini me .... wasnt worth it ... the b series i have now bone stock would kill the mini me i had done and i had all that crap done to the head of mine including a JG tB with port matched intake and 5 angle valve job with a port and polish .. still my car never broke 16's ... WASTE .get a b series or like i said in my post above this one .. ENJOY THE MPG's leave it alone .

dont overlook the rods,as there the weakest point in your build. you can ask around to more d series enthuziasts but i believe integra ls and zc rods will work with some slight modifacations. check up on it though cause its better to have this thickness ] [ THAN THIS ][
