Default Idling high, CEL, running rich

We were trying to get my car running a little better tune wise after I got my big 16g in, got home and it started acting weird. A check engine light popped up and started idle surging. I tried looking for sensors being unplugged and blown couplers, but nothing seems out of place. So I unhook the battery and let it sit for a minute then hook it back up. Still doing it, but I tried taking it up the road and it's at about 10.0 AFR and won't go (obviously).

The car is running on a 2g maf, so I pulled my buddy's maf off and hooked it up. It idles high now, around 1500+rpms.

any ideas or tips? if I need to post a mod's list, I can.

it sounds like it could be an O2 sensor.

did you still have a CEL with the other MAF in?

didn't think about the o2, which would make sense with the tuning.

yeah, I put in the other MAF and it stopped the surging, but it idles at 1500-1600rpms with a CEL. I haven't tried to drive it with this maf but earlier it was too rich.

sometimes it takes a little longer for a self-learning ECU to figure out new parts/sensors, so that could explain the higher idle.

the first thing i would do, is swap the O2 sensor(s) and see what happens. i know my car has a bad one and i get a CEL on and off. it used to surge until i advanced the timing wayyy up

there's only one shop in town that has a connector for an older vehicle like mine. so we'll see tomorrow I guess.

we unhooked the idle throttle (?) sensor and it doesn't surge, but it stays at 1500+ rpms and is still way too rich.

what year is the car? if its before obd2 then it should read flash codes. im sure someone has a how to on here about reading flash codes on older cars. I'm guessing you drive a mitsubishi based on your avatar. find out what wires you need to jump to read the codes and then look for a code bank on either this website or another.
