    Default boost and horsepower

how come some cars make like 300 whp on 20psi and some make 300 whp 10 psi? even with simalar builds?

many variables. parts used(the quality of them), how it was tuned, the design of the motor, etc. im sure there is more....

size of turbo could be a huge factor as well. 10 psi isnt the same amount of air on a t25 and a t88

lots of factors, basically comes down to engine efficiency.

A motor is an air pump, how much air you cram into the motor directly relates to power out put.

A small turbo can only injest so much air, ad big turbo, more power.

but you have to have a proper flowing head, correctly sized cams, displacement etc.

a GSR with a t3/t4 turbo can make 300whp prob around 18psi give or take.

Ive seen GT35R GSRs make 320whp at 11psi.

Only difference is the first car is maxed out on power output and has a much more broad powerband.

The second car is capable of much higher HP due to its larger turbo, but its powerband is very laggy and peaky

    yea many variables...

    valves
    lift on the cams
    timing
    turbo size
    manifolds flow and style
    engine compression
    intercooler sizing
    ignition systems
    port matching
    engine management
do some research... bigger isnt always better... lower end power is fun too.

    compression.

Edit: the guy above me said just that

displacement + compression ratio + CFM + psi = volumetric efficiency which determines for the most part how much power can and will be made.

from what i have read and understand is dont look at it as a boost a reliability relationship, but more as a HP and reliability issue. the more hp the more stress. correct me if im wrong but thats what i somewhat understand it to be.
