lots of factors, basically comes down to engine efficiency.

A motor is an air pump, how much air you cram into the motor directly relates to power out put.

A small turbo can only injest so much air, ad big turbo, more power.

but you have to have a proper flowing head, correctly sized cams, displacement etc.

a GSR with a t3/t4 turbo can make 300whp prob around 18psi give or take.

Ive seen GT35R GSRs make 320whp at 11psi.

Only difference is the first car is maxed out on power output and has a much more broad powerband.

The second car is capable of much higher HP due to its larger turbo, but its powerband is very laggy and peaky

from what i have read and understand is dont look at it as a boost a reliability relationship, but more as a HP and reliability issue. the more hp the more stress. correct me if im wrong but thats what i somewhat understand it to be.
