as far as handling and such just the same if not better. I can stick corners just as well as my buddy with his 08 kawa 600.

you pretty much always ride in 5th or 6th tho I catch my self looking for 7th gr ALOT haha. I love it tho my first bike i owned upgrading next summer to hopefully a 08 R6

i read they are pretty much sold out for 2008.

Compared to a 600 you sit lower and your not leaned over as much so its not as much of a sport bike feel but it is with out doubt the way to start on a bike .
