    Default Cycle Insurance

So Ive ridden buddies bikes off and on for a couple of years but ive never gotten my license but I am now in the market for a bike and plan on getting my license tomorrow but the insurance is like 2000 for a year!! Are the rates always this ridiculous or is it because I dont have my license yet? Who are you guys using for insurance cause i sure as hell aint paying 200 a month for insurance.

what kind of coverage are you trying to get on the bike? Cause full coverage on a bike is almost always high unless you are over 35 amd married.

It was 3000 from allstate and 2000 with Geico. Progressive is hella more reasonable at 650 for 12 months full coverage. Looks like buying a motorcycle is back on!

I heard statefarm was pretty good too. Progressive is actually one of the higher quotes I have seen from my buddies.

Progressive is one of the most competative companies for Motorcycle insurance, State Farm and Allstate usually cant touch Progressive for some reason. Age and bike size plays a huge role in the ratings.

Riding experience has a lot to do with it. Lie and say you've been riding for 6+ years.

Progressive gave me the highest quote that I have ever had. 35, married, no tickets - $5600/yr. I thought that he had accidentally read another 0 on it....

It varies from person to person. A lot of people pay cash for their bikes (usually used) and then only carry liability. Driving record, bike year, and zip code have a lot to do with it. I have a 29 yr old friend who only pays 400/yr for full coverage... but he has a 9 year old R6.

Is there like a year cut off for cheap insurence? I know the new bikes are more to insure and the older bikes are cheaper. But, its much easier to get approved for a new bike for some reason.

Any help? I can make pretty much any kind of monthly payment for a bike, but they wont approve me without a co signer. I can put like half down too! WTF..

    Advice?

besides value of the bike it self it all depends on engine size... a 250cc is gonna cost you less on ins than a 600cc....

i have an 02 buell blast 492cc and that's running me right around 500 for a full year of ins... and that's full coverage... and i do not have my motorcylce lic yet... nor have i taken any courses...
