Default Civic SI Swap In A 1998 Honda Civic Hatchback

I just purchased a car from a guy who did a 99 Civic Si Swap in the car. He did the instrument cluster, motor, and transmission and everything seems to be working well.

However, I noticed a few problems:

    1) I noticed that when you are in 5th gear and cruising down the road, the cars RPMS are right at 3500 @ 60 MPH.

    2) I have also noticed that according to the RPM gauge in the car, the VTEC doesn't come in until 6200 RPM.

I used to own a 99 Civic SI and know for a fact that VTEC comes on at around 5200 and cruising at 60 MPH in 5th gear the car is definately not turning 3500 RPMS.

Can someone tell me what may be the problem and where I need to look to try and fix it ?

    Thanks,

    Robert

How do u tell for sure if it is a B16 Tranny ?

It also is somewhat hard to get into reverse. I called Jotech Motorsports in Garland, TX and Kenny Tran said that the reverse problem is because he has it enagaged too high.

Thanks for all the help !

at 80mph you should be doing 4500+ rpms dependin on tires and wheel size.

google B16 80mph crusing an see what HT says.

VTEC Wise look at the ECU and tell us what code is on it. Is it OBD2 or Converted
