You either need a piston pin press, and a shop press, or you're gonna have to take it to a machine shop and have it done.
so those are the only ways? where can i get a piston press?
You don't wanna buy one. It's money money. Go to a shop...they're not gonna charge but what...like 10$ a piston? It's easy and quick as hell. I've done two motors worth.

Did you pull the clips out(or atleast just one side) ;] take it somewhere if you cant get it off.

yeah scott's machine shop charged me $210.00 for a 4 cylinder and that included pressing the wrist pins out... i believe it was $150 or $160 for just the balancing....
they are pretty inexpensive on most jobs and do some pretty good work...

I'll be considering that if I do more than just replace the bearings/rings on my b18...

With the B18, it's got (said) 110K miles on it. To me...with it's condition (granted, it runs fine, I've just been around motors too long to be fooled) I'd say we're around about 180-200K. Everything's still strong. Just some leaks. Well, when moving it to the new chassis, I think I may do a bottom-end rebuild (no performance added) and MIGHT have the head done to flow a little better...
Thought about boring...but I leave Feb for the marines. The car's basically getting dressed up and pretty to sit under a cover in the garage...

stock block? no work what so ever? if u ever build the bottom end, find a nice forged piston that is slightly larger than stock. get the machine shop to bore it out and install the new pistons. it wont cost that much more and you will have more options down the road (boost, juice, etc...) knowing you have a nice almost new engine under the hood is a good feeling.Originally Posted by EvasiveEF9

I wouldn't take **** to Scotts. Anyone that has a clue as to what they are doing would take their stuff somewhere that knows how to operate machinery. Those people have ****ed up more things than I care to remember. They have cost me $$$$$ in the past. But I guess if you don't know any better, or if you're easily impressed, you'll be happy with their work. There are much better machine shops around. If you're looking for a bargain deal, then you'll get bargan work. You get what you pay for.
