    Default 92 eg tranny question!

    my boss's son has an eg , manual tranny and it is stuck in 2nd gear , wont leave it ?!?!?!? any help will be repped and very much appreciated! thanx fellas!

    Yea why dont you just kinda push it a little it might loosen up. It might just be locked in a way... one of my friends had the same issue and he did it and ran perfect after that.

    id suggest moving the car as well. otherwise jack the car up, get under it and make sure the shift linkage isnt binding/bent. Surely if its anything external of the transmission it would be visible once you got under it.

    If the kid was ragging it out (redlining all the time, etc) he may have bent one of the pressure plate tines into the clutch disc. I'm assuming that the car won't start B/C its acting like the clutch won't work.

    I've done this same thing to clutches on EG's and once on a Chevy Tahoe, everytime with the same symptoms and same ultimate failure. Now I buy expensive clutches and they don't die as easily.

    could be clutch, also could be a severely worn or overheated tranny internals.
