First off it is 1JZGTE.

1JZGTE = 2.5 liter
2JZGTE = 3.0 liter

The 1JZ is cheaper, but like Mr. KiDD said, they are not as strong. The big thing about the 1JZ is that it was a Japan only motor, and parts are harder to find.
