    Default Your first time riding

3 years ago I got my first real bike. I got it at toccoa motersports. I was so nervous and I told the guy I wasnt ready to buy because I didnt have a way to take it home yet since I dont want to ride it home. He said well if you buy it I will take it to gainesville for you. I said ok. I got approved and then he started going back on his word, I got up and about walked out and the manager told him no do what you said you would do. I got home and drove it in my neighborhood back and forth and then I tried to back it up, it fell over. Well anyways after 3 days of being in my neighborhood with it I finnaly took it to the streets. MAN I was sooooooooo nervous and exicted, then I gunned it to much and almost fell off the back, lol. I tell you it was a awesome feeling

My first bike is the one I have now. Never been on a streetbike before period nor a dirt bike for that matter until recently on both. I took the Georgia DMV MSF Basic Riders course. After completion I got a Permit in the mean time while my paperwork was getting processed for the license itself (if you pass the course you get your license without a test at the dmv). Right after that (the weekend after completing the course) I bought my brand new, 1 mile on the odo, 2004 RVT1000R4 (RC51) Nicky Hayden Edition.

    Now the ride home...

I read a bit about the bike before...enough to familiarize (sp) myself with it ie: gearing, fuel, weight, etc. I did forget it was fuel injected and when I got on the bike I asked the salesman, "WHere is the fuel cutoff switch?" HE says..."Its fuel injected" OHHHH. Well I start out (leaving the Lawrenceville Honda parking lot) and im good, nervous as shit, my first time on the street on a bike and let alone that its a 999cc V-Twin superbike, and I'm excited as shit. Oh and not to mention that the average running temp of my bike is 220 degrees, so needless to say that the heat was hitting me hard. I pull out onto collins hill road going toward downtown lawrenceville with my fiancee and 13 month old (at the time) in the car behind me. I turn down some backroad, cross the railroad track and make a right. After that right is a sharp left curve in the road followed by a steep ass hill. I shift into second (not realizing that I have about a half inch travel in my throttle) and it stalls, locks up, and slides sideways. I am scared a bit now but I turn it on and go. Going toward snellville down 124 going about 40-45 in a 55 mph lol. GOt home safe and have been perfecting my riding since.

Moral of the story. I am a 20 year old with a 04 RC51 as my FIRST bike EVER. and Knock on Wood have never laid it down. I know people say there are two types of riders the ones who have gone down and the ones who will eventually go down. I am trying to be the THIRD type of rider and Never go down.

I got the bike May 5th and have almost been riding non stop since i got it. From 1 mile on the odo to now 1,480 miles, and i am getting ever so comfortable with it (few close calls aka NO SLIPPER CLUTCH and downshifting to avoid accidents (2) and dumbasses on the road). I am trying not to get too comfortable so as I don't everr forget what I was taught in the class about saftey.

But that is my story hope yall enjoyed lol.

bought my first bike in 05 an 05 gixxer 600 20th aniversery edition. first one in GA to have that bike. bought it when it was on the way to the dealer. never ridden any type of motorcycle. guys at dealer all looked scared as hell. lol. but it came natural. almost all the chicken strips were gone by the time i got home. bought it in athens lived in lawrenceville.

lowsided 4 months later in the GA mtns. riding with a very experienced group of riders. double apex turn. knee was already down in first apex. when the second apex came i couldnt lean anymore. leaned into the pegs and she went out from under me. wasnt off the bike enough they say. i was in the middle of a pack of 9. bike was stolen 2 months later. only had it 6. had like 4k miles. took insurance 6 months to pay it off. (dumbasses) i miss that bike.

Man my first accident I will never forget. See my bike would do 85 in first, well one night I was with some buddies and had my hacket on, Well I was burning up and I took it off. Then my buddy was like lets go ride, so I did with a sleveless t shirt on. ANyways was doing 65 in 2nd ( THOUGHT I WAS IN 3RD) I downshifted to 1st thinking I was going into 2nd instead, freaking bike flipped tore me all up, cracked my helmet I fell off a cliff, it was messey. The doctors used a brillo pad to get all the pavement out of my synged arm.

I rode a friends XR50 as a kid when I was about 12 and always had access to a quad......fast forward to 2003, I was smart and bought a used in great condition '98 ZX-6R. I worked 9 hrs, then trailered 6 hrs to pick it up and another 6 hrs home. Was dead tired when I got home at about 2:30Am. Walked the bike off of the trailer and attempted to ride it onto my parking pad and into the garage. It had a carburetor and I didn't allow it to warm up so it easily stalled twice as I attempted to pull over the 1" lip from the street to my parking pad. I thought maybe if I give it more gas it would go, blipped the throttle and dumped the clutch. The bike shot off from underneath me, did a lil wheelie and bumped into my CRX slightly increasing the crack of the poorly molded on rear bumper. I tried not to notice the five neighbors lights coming on to see what was happening

I didn't touch the bike again until a month later after I passed the MSF which was elementary. I got removed from the class and sent riding on my own the second day after performing all maneuvers flawlessy and at above average speed. I then put about 2,000 miles on my own bike within a few days and started riding everywhere I went. Then I found GSB and it was off to the mtns. Similar to Bucky's experience I was riding with a group of experienced riders and had no idea of what body position was necessary to handle through deep curves. I had been dragging hard parts all day and even had been through this particular decreasing radius curve of 60 previously. However, this time I had a bit more speed and I was already dragging pegs. When the curve tightened up I had no more lean angle and I lowsided. I slid all of 5 ft on my butt and had so much momentum that when my boots hit the side of the road it stood me up and was able to run the rest of it off. I ripped the pocket off of my jeans, trashed a pair of Icon boots and had not a scratch on me. The bike on the other hand continued to slide off the street and got slammed by a log. All plastics were trashed, forks bent, frame dinged, subframe trashed, clip-ons, tank dinged, upper stay, the bike was a total loss. I had bought it for $2,500 and sold it to a track guy all mangled for $1,750. I later learned that he was more interested in the clean title as that is all the bike was good for, well that and the engine.

2 weeks later I bought a '03 ZX-9R (sold a year later due to a career change) and the rest is history.......'04 CBR 1000RR (sold), '05 GSXR 1000 (sold), '05 GSXR 750 (crashed and parted out) and '06 GSXR 750 (now sold )

I love telling that story! Too bad it will be a while before I ride again as I just sold the '06 750 to buy a bigger house and I forgot to take pics I had installed a brand new set of '07 all blk 600 plastics. It was so badass...... I'll be back on two as soon as I get adjusted to the higher mortgage and stack some more chips though. I prefer outright owning my bikes over leasing to keep a bit of stress off of my already rocket high credit Damn American Dream and owning the biggest home possible.....

For you guys who have never crashed and continue to ride, beware it's coming. The question is will you be prepared and geared up or reap the consequences???

My first bike was 9 years ago, I bought a Ninja 250 and I had to have my dad bring it home in the back of the truck from the dealership cause I was to scared to ride it...LOL. For a week I rode around my sub division afraid to get out in traffic, One day I fonally did it. One month later I sold the 250 and bought a Ninja 600 then had to sell it a year later when I got divorced. 9 years later I have a '06 R6 and getting back into it

    First bike a GSX-R600

Wrecked once in the Mt's, lowsided on hwy 60 going 70ish mph.

Second wreck, making a left from school @ less than 10mph. 20 degree weather + cold tires + too much lean angle = Lowside

Had the bike for about a year and half?

my first bike was a ninja 250. loved it, learned alot quicker than I would have on a bigger bike. wish I still had it, you had to redline it in every gear to make it go anywhere but man, its a lot more fun to ride a slow bike fast than ride a fast bike slow.
then I got a 92 zx7r. a freaking pig but very advanced for its age, inverted forks, slipper clutch, stock solo tail, slide carbs, ali tank and adjustable swingarm pivot, sold it when I moved to Virginia and bought a 06 636. Ive ridden a lot of bikes and this one has to be my personal favorite thus far.

my parents were soooo pissed when i showed up at the house with a bike, hahah. my dad that night printed me out the statistics of motorcycle accidents and deaths. he was determined to stop me from riding, 2 years later and 2 motorcycles later iam still riding and he still prints out stats every once in a while. thing about it is, my dads reckless as shit. he used to have a KTM super moto and almost killed himself along with my mom

I worked in Front Royal, VA, lived in the Middletown and then Winchester area. pretty much stayed near the I-81 and I-66 area.
there were some great roads there, the shop I worked at was 5 minutes from the entrance to Skyline Drive(BRP). And all the neighboring roads like 211 and 175 were even better. and cant forget the roads in PA, MD and WV, tons of them and almost no cops.

Im back in Atlanta now, i guess I need to change my profile

My first ride was a 70s Honda 80. The damn thing wouldnt even burn out. But it taught me how to ride. It was a friends bike at a party, I only had one beer so I was good. Didnt fall it was good.
Next got to ride a buddies VTR 250, it was fun I should have bought that bike off him.
And my currently bike (First one I own) is my 05 z750s. That thing scared the shit out of me for months. I barely road it, I got it out of a trade. It was wayy to much power for me. However, now playing with it for a few months and riding it when I have the time I am much more comfortable on it.
I aint no mountain rider but I feel confident in traffic enough to ride across town and make a couple hour ride I think.
However that bad boy is for sale, I gotta pay off my truck. Im buying another, Im thinking Yamaha YFZ 600 or something similiar, cheap and its a yamaha...

I just bought my first bike yesterday. (well.. thrusday). 01 CBR600 F4i. I also took the safety course at Earl Smalls in Marietta (had way to much fun on that buell blast). And for the past 4 years I've been riding my fathers 02 Yamaha Roadstar 1600 (built out the ass). I am really used to that bike, and I can pretty much ride it like I stole it and still be comfortable.
In the past few years I've been leaning towards a sport bike. My father really didn't want me to have one, but I just fell in love with them. He keeps saying that I'm going to kill myself on it, but I really don't see me going and doing mountian runs, or trying to ride on the back wheel or anything.. The first time I got to ride a sport bike I got to cruise around a neighborhood on a gsxr600 a little while.. around a year ago, and I fell in love. My buddy had his 01 cbr forsale with a couple little mods. He got tired of it considering it was his only means of transportation and then I picked it up off of him.
The thing that really gets me is how much power this thing has (and I know it's really not that fast). I've not really been out trying to do crazy shit on it because I'm still learning, but I'm getting a little more comfortable with it. I still ride it like it's just transportation (not going over 9k rpm). I rode it around today for around 2 hours. I could maybe see me upgrading later, but for now this is plenty of power for me.
