Thread: SR's are gay

Hybrid View

  1. #1

    Default SR's are gay

    How bout some originality

Everyone and their brother wants an SR

all you sr guys think automatically ill swap it in and make stock power or a little more with a FMIC and a blow off valve and that your car is unstoppable

I made this comment in the KA thread

assume 3 grand for a good complete SR swap

and thats stock SR just at or a little over 200 hp

imagine 3 grand in a KA

that would be pushin close to 500 hp

why is this motor so hated

its called torque, and its a good thing

No, he's not. I know him personally and I know what is done to his SR. Here's an idea: drive your 240 off a cliff.

My car isn't stock you are right, but my motor was on stock internals and stock turbo which is what I said when I made all that power.

OMFG so they put that motor is a truck big whoop. My ridgeline has a 3.5 in it so does a 350z.My fucking 94 KA altima was runnin in the 13;s and omg its a altima, FWD and a ka24de, well yea and it was still realiable

Actually without the turbo the SR is weaker than a KA.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Awesome. A KA with exhaust puts down about 130whp. So where is that 70whp going to come from? You will spend WAY more to get a KA to 200whp NA than you would spend just swapping in an SR.

I'm not saying the SR is the best engine. I'm just saying it's the easiest. They're cheap, they're light, they're easy to install, and there is a fucking ginormous aftermarket for them.

I agree, Id rather spend 3 grand on a reliable SR. All i need is enough to get me sideways, honestly. I know that sounds gay, but why fix what isnt broken?

BTW, a stock KA with a stock SR T25 will push as much as a S15 SR20. Its been dyno proven. Lots more torque too. All i know is, you better get some updated rods and bearings, believe me, when they say KA-T is timebomb, they mean it. My motor only had 90k on it too...

Just like TheSnail said...that's at the CRANK. On a dyno, a stock KA will put down 130whp if it's healthy. Take in mind I saw a S14 with a catback and intake make 130whp. I've seen a SOHC KA put down 99whp.

Yea you can but it would cost you a shit load...

The reason why people say they make more power on a KA-T isn't because it is a better motor but because they put bigger turbos on it, no one puts a t25 on there KA to turbo it. Put a t25 on a KA and I guarentee my SR will last longer then it.

bottom line, KA24POS. SR20DET.....alot better motor. KA24DE=155hp? out of a 2.4L motor? SR20DET makes 205hp from the s13 motor. 2.0L 205hp. KA is a klunky truck motor. all torque, no power. SR is alo higher rev, alot more reliable. save your money and buy the SR. and the RB's come out alot more expensive anyways. RB has to have exrememly expensive mounts, SR uses stock motor mounts. if money were not a concern, i'd have gone with an rb25. but anything is better than the KA, i mean even honda motors....they're better than a KA. go throw your $3000 into that KA, have a heavy ass block, make your 250 HP and call it a day, or buy the SR, do the swap, spend like $2000. that leaves you with $1000 to spend on a build up, you make alot more that 250hp. but keep your mouth shut until you have something good to say.

You should probably do some more research. KA's were in more types of car than truck. not that I dont agree with you though.

Yeah, S13 is getting the CA18DET. If I can keep from spending $$ elsewhere, it should put out well over 400 to the wheels by the end of the year. If I feel baller enough, the S12 will get a DET as well (Hell, I've got 1 half cut and 1 motorset, they're just on different continents, haha). Wishful thinking sucks, but since I just went up another rank, the budget got a pretty big boost. Anyways, I'm not building the car to slide. S15 diffs. have better use. We'll see where it sits in September/October, haha.

I'm all for KA-T's, built though. I have gone through too many pistons on stock KA-T's to enjoy it at all. It sucks having to pull the head and oil pan off every other month to replace pistons. If I had $3000, and wanted the best bang for the buck, it wouldn't be a KA-T, It'd be a Redtop with a FMIC, Greddy Plenum, T28 BB, exhaust, and a ECU tune. $3000 would get me a nice turbo setup with a safc2, but still the ringlands suck. Build the motor, then I get an ebay turbo setup. Stock KA's will only last with more money dumped into the engine management, so do that, then no build or, nice turbo setup. Money for money, the SR, it can be done quick, and it's reliable.

Earlier someone people were talkin about the RB20

I like that motor don't get me wrong, but i cant see the point of swapping in a heavier motor and adding two cylinders and losing .4 ltrs from the KA

And I will admit i'll appreciate an SR if it is built nice, but it pisses me off how so many people just want to toss the KA aside and automatically put an SR in. The SR 240's are like mustangs, they are fuckin everywhere

I had a kid who i hardly know come up to me about a year ago (typical fast and furious fan boy, and his parents bought him a BMW and he totaled it so they bought him another, but thats a different story) and he asked first off if I drift. BTW he was driving through the parking lot at a restaurant so he saw my car. I said no, then he proceeded to ask me if I had an SR, I said know, and he says well you need to put one it and get that thing sideways.

Thats the typical SR image and I don't see why so many people want that or like that. The 240 people are supposed to be the ones who don't care about big wings or clear tail lights, they just like originality

And I think the SR is dare I say it, becoming ricey
I know honda people that want to put SR's in their cars somehow.

When it crosses into cross breeding, thats where I draw the line

You are the most ignorant fuck I have ever seen. An RB20 is a fucking boat anchor. A KA is a fucking truck engine. There is a reason everyone uses an SR20. IT WORKS. Fuck being different and using a less reliable setup just because you want to be different.

And fuck your Honda statements, seeing as you drive Nissan's version of a Civic. Everyone has one now a days. Do you drift too, asshat? DIAF.

Simple power equation. more valve area = more power.
