if you dont even know basic pros and cons of each, you probably shouldn't be buying one
Turbo is better, but requires more maintenance.
The superchargers are ok, but i wasnt impressed with them. They dont make any power until way high in the RPMs. The s2000s rev really high, so the higher you rev the motor, the more the belt might slip

SR20? lol
A 4.77 gearset is comparable to a supercharger setup until 70-80 mph. The 5K you spend you barely feel until you're up to 7K rpms.
Go turbo.
New car:
95 S14 with RB25DET (stock boost)
Old car:
Turbo S2000 400hp/285tq on 9:1 comp & 11psi
put a 20B in it
You could put a blender motor in it, it revs higher and makes more torque.
put a 2 stroke in it

Ehh. I am not saying this is how I approach things...but if you have the money to do it why not?Originally Posted by imbosile

Damn Toad, all with the rotary swaps..
This is why we get nothing but IDIOTS in the scene, and why they know nothing. Sure - do not give it to them on a platter, but don't be dicks about it either. Sheesh. That's why I can see that I am getting too old for this shit.

Put a turbo Formula Atlantic 4AGE in it. The engine only costs $30,000 not including the turbo.

Thought about a supercharger but isn't worth it after DOING MY OWN RESEARCH.
Motortrend tested one and it brought the power from 240 to 358 but only improved its 1/4 mile time by 0.3 seconds.
Either more needed to be done or the driver sucked.

What was the trap speed at the end of that 1/4 mile?
Just wondering
Alright, what do you want to do w/ your S?
If you want it to turn and track well, get the supercharger.
If you want it to be a straight line beast, get the turbo.
Your power band will have loads more midrange with a turbo and with a supercharger you'll have all your power after 6,000 RPMs (On an ap1).
Supercharger is also a cheaper route and becoming less used in the s2k world I've noticed. If you get a supercharger, get the vortech and run like 14 psi = )
You could also change your final drive gear to 4.44/4.57/4.77 gears along with the supercharger to get the lower torque feel. 4.77 on a stock S will give you enough speed to get a 13.3 or so in the quarter vs a 13.9 stock. There are probably some available on s2ki; I'm sure someone is selling some.
If you're going turbo, lovefab/inlinePRO is the way to go unless you can find a custom kit on s2ki or something.

I ran a 13.76 @ 100 NA with stock final drive and all. Where are you getting that 13.8 from? Someone just can't drive. Like I said, 4.77 will give u a 13.3ish and 12.9ish for the STOCK vortech supercharger.

I agree with overmind. Whoever got a 13.8 with the Vortech probably doesn't even know how to drive a manual transmission.

LMFAO at a 13.8 Supercharged!! Grab a 3mm comtech headgasket and Boost it with a gt30r turbo and run Nitrous for the low end. Set your standalone to kick in under wot and cut off at 4kish rpms when the turbo and vtec kick in. Get an good tune from one of the major garages in area (mainstream, battleground, etc) and your pushing like 350whp + the nitrous bottom end power for off the line. This is what a guy on s2ki.com is running and seems pretty awesome. This is what im hoping to get for mine!
