Read somewhere that the GZE made 185 hp, can anyone verify this? I'm thinking about getting one from someone who's going all motor, hope i can get it on the cheap.

No, there was never a 4a motor rated that high. Also the 4AGZE is a supercharged motor (Hence the Z instead of just 4AGE ). so its never going to be "all motor" anyway. An AE101 Smallport GZE can be had for ab $1000 including tranny, harness, ecu..ect...they are a super PITA to wire into anything, but with the SC14 supercharger over the SC12 (what we got here on the Largeport GZE in MKI MR2's) you have a slight performance potential increase. If your friend is really looking to go all motor with a 4a, he needs to start reading up as much ab that motor as he can. Its def not like a honda motor where bolt-ons will increase performance....Toyota built these motors to the upper limits of what they were capable of, while still remaining reliable. If he really is interested in all motor, i also recommend he look into a High compression Redtop 4AGE out of a JDM AE92 (134hp). they run a 7 rib block, piston oil squirters, high comp pistons (10.3/1), Map sensored, lightened small port rods, No TVIS/EGR, and with the JDM ecu over the USDM version you get the factory timing/spark advance that wouldnt meet emissions standerds in the states). they make less hp stock then a 20valve, but have a much higher potential to make power. Formula Atlantic used them, running to 14,000 rpms and making 260whp N/A!!!
