Default Vintage & "Clean" Japanese Car Meet/Show?

We have the resources to do it...Paul and the rest of the IA crew, A+++ photographers and all their connections, local shops & sponsors, race teams, forums, etc.

A car show for people that don't like car shows, is it possible? I'm envisioning "Jtuned" style, something found acceptable to Honda-Tech and some of the other better manufacturer based websites: club4ag, SELOC, etc. At Nopi I saw several orginal Skylines, have seen many beautiful Datsun and Honda roadsters driving around, 510's & 240z's, and even a few Mazda RX-3's...now combine all the vintage japanese cars we can find with cleanly done late model cars and imagine them all gathered together!

The biggest problem I see is what is an acceptable newer car? Have an invitation only process? Submit a picture to a "commitee" for a yay or nay?! No offense to anyone who has spent valuable time and money on a show car but aiming for vehicles that have performance before looks, less attention to stereo's and ICE and more time wrenching & tuning, etc...a time & place for shops and race teams to show off their work, etc.

A gathering that tells Nopi you're not the only one, lol...ok maybe not that big but at least shows HIN we do have what it takes.

i say thats a fantastic idea.... but what do you consider old/vintage.... 15 years old, 20 years ... da teg's, na miata's, ef hatches, crx's are those to new or are they considered to new or what?

Thats how most of the Seloc show always turns out to be. Sounds like a very good idea, just make a picture of your car mandatory with registration and then you'll be mailed an invite if your car makes the cut.

There is one, sometimes two, 510's that regularly show up to meets and this isn't restricted to IA...otherwise it wouldn't be a normal North Point gathering. Plus I'm not interested in a parking lot meet either...i want an arena. An all day/night event.

The concept is there, more than enough cars are here, now just need experienced promoters.

lolol, i was actually thinking that on the way to work this morning....it might work for the website but need something catchy for the event name..."JDMspot 2006" just doesn't seem to flow...or maybe it does but JDM is too overused now.

You have a point but i don't know how the attendance would be...mixing it up with old school meets new school would more than fill whatever place we wanted...

Jtuned attended the Japanese Classic Car Show (JCCSO) back in October:

I go to the mitty every year, i don't recall anything involving classic japanese cars other than the few that happen to be there racing, along with all the british and italian cars...

Last years pics: (site's down, should be up shortly)

But if i could get Steve Millans GT and GTP cars to show...oh my, we'd have to have little booths next to them with peep holes for people to sit in

Interesting, how was the turnout? (...i can't view the link from work) Was it HSR that organized it?

And since the average age at the Mitty is quite a bit older it would be nice to combine the two (older and newer vehicles) so people can see their cars "roots". Maybe talk to some people that have "been there, done that" kind of thing....hrmm...maybe a swap meet too?
