Default Skip Barber Racing School TRACK DAY!

Hey everybody, I'm a Director at the Skip Barber Racing School. I used to post here a long time ago and got to thinking some of you might like to know about our upcoming track day. Here's the details, I'm looking in the system now and we still have some spots open.

To register call Jeff Lail at 678-828-2024, he's our series advisor for this area.

Skip Barber Racing School is having a track day on April 1, 2012 at the Road Atlanta facility. The gates open at 7:00 am and the event will run until 5:00 PM. All of the Skip Barber Racing School Instructors are currently licensed professionals racing in series’ ranging from SCCA PRO to ALMS and Rolex Series. These instructors are flown in for every Skip Barber race event and now are also associated with our track day! Many of you may remember Panoz Track Days from way back when. Well, we absorbed that piece of Panoz (Racing School) and we're beginning to see if the interest is out there for more days like this event. Pass it around, tell your friends. With this kind of professional instruction/feedback and at this price for a full day on Road Atlanta, you really can't beat it. We're REALLY excited to get this going.

    More information here: www.skipbarber.com/highperformancetd.asp

    Prices are as follows:
    Beginner: $400.00
    Intermediate: $350.00
    Advanced: $350.00
Private Lead/Follow Sessions (Intermediate/Advanced) with SBRS Instructors: $125.00
Each group gets alternating 30 minute sessions throughout the day on track at Road Atlanta, which works out to around 3 hours of track time!

Beginner is lead/follow sessions and is slightly elevated because of the added value of so much private time with the instructors. During Intermediate and Advanced our instructors are taking notes on a turn by turn basis for every car on-track and will be rotating from corner observation to paddock review of the drivers from the last session. This is going to be a huge advantage for drivers, not only to learn their own cars on a world class racetrack, but to also get feedback from professionals after every session in a personalized fashion.

Again, to register call Jeff Lail at 678-828-2024 and he will get you all set. Hope to see you there.

nice, but i can run with nasa or the scca all weekend with an instructor if i choose, and have more track time for the same price...

if it were a lower intro price, then hell yeah... but i think it's a bit high priced for a critique... maybe i'm wrong?
You're right - I have no idea what I'm talking about...

NASA and SCCA are awesome organizations with great instruction and they do put on events like this but track rent is track rent, that's what all of it boils down to and unfortunately, often times it dictates the price of the event offered at said track. Some organizations get more significant discounts or cheaper rates on off weekends, etc, it all varies across the board.

I'm not sure of the pricing schedule for NASA or the SCCA, they're great values either way. We do feel, based on our talent, teaching model, the time on track and what this event entails the price is on the level and actually very fair. There are alternatives certainly, there always are. If any of you are free to even come up and be around us and see the event, it'll really give you an insight as to how we lead the industry as an instructional institution. You'll really get to see our pedigree and why we've been training the best drivers for 37 years.

Just as an example, these individuals have been through our ladder program, started with us, moved up through our ranks and into every major type or racing in the world: http://www.skipbarber.com/alumni.asp This is our business, we train drivers. All we need is that one chance and you'll believe it too. Come to the track day, drive your own car, get our professional feedback and you'll see the value add.

I also forgot to mention this earlier as well, if you do sign up for the track day as an example, let's say you pay the $350 for Sunday. Then on the day of the event after seeing what we have to offer, you decide you would like to take our Intro to Racing School or some other class we offer. We'll take that $350 and apply it to the cost of the other class you want to take.

You're going to get FAR better instruction from Skip Barber than a NASA event, SCCA only offers PDX which is only 40 minutes at RA club race weekends. I'm not bashing either, but Skip Barber is top notch quality.

When does registration close? And if you don't mind me asking, how would I go about obtaining a racing license for use in NASA, SCCA, etc type of events.

Registration is open until the event fills up, we're about 30% full from what I can see right now, we've only had registration open since Monday so register as soon as you get a chance.

After you go to a qualifying school, with Skip Barber, it's the 3 Day Racing School. Upon completion, you'll request a letter of compliance which states you passed the course and that you're eligible for a regional license for both SCCA and NASA. Once you get the letter, present it to the director of those organizations and they'll get the ball rolling. I think there are some additional fees from NASA and SCCA to process/enter, etc.
