So fucking 3 days of having an iPhone, the bitch won't even turn on. I'm guessing the battery's fucked up coz I tried everything and looked up shit on how to try to turn it on and bitch won't even show me something. What sucks is that I'm stuck on post and no Apple store or anything that I can turn this piece of rotten turd in to get checked out. So I'll basically have no fucking phone for 6 weeks FUCK!
Have you tried the easiest thing in the world, a reset? (hold down home and power simultaneously for 7 seconds until the Apple logo appears). Or, do a forced recovery in iTunes by entering DFU mode (Google).
Nice day for a car wash!

I did all that. What happened was when I was outside waiting for the bus, I sent a text and I am certain the battery life was 90%+ and then I got on the bus then got off and when I checked my phone it's dead. I tried turning it on and nope, did the reset and nope, got back to my room plugged it in and tried to turn it and the screen was just black. I even did forced recovery in iTunes but it won't recognize the device like it's not plugged it. It's turned on now but the battery was dead when I got it to work. How in the hell did it go from 90%+ battery to basically 0% in less than 10 minutes. Doesn't make sense. My phone did turn itself off on certain occasions just randomly.
Thanks!
Thanks!me too.. though looking to upgrade soon I think.
Yep that was me, went to Atlanta Fish Market for lunch. Used to go to that Fellinis every Friday night when I had my Maxima.
Thanks! Yes it was!!

I've been Real Racing 2 like a boss all day today.
I think my commute to work is finally getting to me. Not so much traffic and the drive...but the miles on my car. Now that I have a car that I actually care about, it kinda matters to me again. I love my job, but I love my car too. 500 miles a week is rough.
BUT...without my job, I wouldn't have a car, so I guess it evens out. Dunno. Thinking out loud.

I understand where you're coming from. Some semesters I was putting nearly that much on my car for school. Look at it this way though, your car has such low mileage and it's a preowned car...it's not like you bought it brand new. You should enjoy it and relish in the fact that your mileage is next to nothing right now. By the time the mileage gets up there, you'll probably be ready to part with the car anyway.
People bitch about putting miles on their car because more miles means more maintenance. Especially on any european car...the maintenance is gonna be more expensive. So, it's more of a concern with them. I knew that when I bought the car, but that doesn't mean I look forward to it. I'd like to put it off as long as possible. I have so many other things that I have to pay for now and soon I'll have rent too. It's all a part of life, but if I can put some payments off a little longer, I'd like to. That's why people bitch about mileage.
Honestly, the only reason why I bought this car is because it only had 9,600 miles on it. That's a good deal for a used GTI. I know I have nothing to worry about now, but 500 miles a week after a while will be more of a problem. It's not really a big deal to me now...a co-worker had just mentioned it and I guess I had never really thought about it. Like I said, I was just thinking out loud haha

Who said I can't afford it?? I wouldn't have bought the damn car if I couldn't afford it. It was just a realization that I came to today when someone mentioned it. Anyone who pays bills and lives on their own (or mostly on their own) will agree that low mileage cars are better when you have other shit to worry about. Why do you think people buy second cars that are cheap and used just for commuting (usually hondas...no offense)?? To avoid putting more miles and stress on their other cars. I enjoy driving my car and will jump at any chance I have to drive it. It has nothing to do with that though.
Like I stated before (as well as Daniel), I don't really have anything to worry about now because: 1) I still have low mileage 2) I'm still under the factory warranty. It was just a thought that popped into my head.

Seriously... cars are meant to driven, fixed then driven again... they're not disposable after so much use... you fix and continue... I have 250,000 miles on my truck and I will never get rid of it... I'll throw more parts at it and I'll get another car later... Ive already replaced my transmission and every component in my pulley system. I am however not paying for anything else, which is even more reason for you to buy an economical and cheap upkeep car...

I personally like to have a daily driver and a fun car I can take out on the weekend. I enjoy keeping cars spotless inside and out and throwing a cover over them after they've been washed. Its just whatever your prefer to do. Its your car. Hell, my Shelby im keeping in GA and living in NY. How many miles do you think thats going to have on it by the end of the year? hahaha.

I have a 1994 Saturn with a MONSTER 84 horsepower as my daily to get me back and forth to work.. Premium gas is too expensive to justify driving the GTI to work.

I'm confused as to what you don't understand. I didn't state in there that I couldn't pay for the maintenance, I would just like to hold it off as long as I can so I can pay for other stuff like food, and rent, and phone bills and stuff and not have to worry about the car. Something will eventually happen (it's not invincible), but if I can hold it off for a couple months, that'd be great too.
Exactly. If you have nothing else to pay for, then by all means, drive whatever you want and pay to repair whatever you want. When you start paying for EVERYTHING else in your life, saving money is what you're all about. Now, I wasn't saying that I can't afford the GTI and that it's a problem...it's not. I was just realizing how many miles I actually put on the car....kinda leading to possibly getting a daily for myself.
This. I think I'll eventually get another car as a daily. The GTI is premium (like sloppyGTI mentioned), it's German, and a manual. Not great for commuting and sitting in traffic, but I still enjoy it. When the mileage starts reaching a certain point, I'll probably move it to the garage and make it my weekend/toy car. Right now though, I'm gonna continue to enjoy the hell out of it![]()

here's an idea: since you love to drive it so much, why not buy another one and put it in a capsule, vacuum seal it, and lock it in a vault underground? that way you can have one to drive and put off maintenance on, and when you get tired of dealing with the constant CEL, you can unwrap you're practically new, cacooned GTI and repeat the process....
Get real!
STEP1: you buy a car you like.
STEP2: you drive it.
STEP3: you properly care for it.
STEP4: you drive it some more.
if "high milage" means STEP3 is expensive and can stress you financially, you made a mistake at STEP1.
Its a fucking Volkwagen Golf. No offense, but just because it says "GTI" on the back, doesn't make it "God's Chariot." In other words, its not gonna be a collectable item worth more than any other used car in the same segment 10 yrs from now....
drive it and keep racking up 500 miles a week. and when you hit that 50k mile mark, smile and say to yourself, "its made it this far and I had so many great times. bring on the next 50k miles!!"

You realize that not everyone works like you or thinks like you or has the same life as you, right?? I have set plans for the GTI that I have full intentions of going through with. I'm gonna buy a commuter because I'd like to spend my time driving the GTI taking it to events and shows and taking it on trips and putting miles like that on it. Do I have a problem taking my car to work?? No. It actually makes traffic a bit more enjoyable. But guess what?? Every car has a life span. They'll all die eventually. Could I rebuild it?? Sure. But by that time, I'd be ready to buy a new one. Just because you think a car should be used a certain way, doesn't mean everyone else thinks the same way. It doesn't make you right either. Don't like how I think my car should be used? Tough. It's not your car or your life now is it? Simple as that. Everyone has their opinions. I wanna use my car how I wanna use it. That's pretty much it. It doesn't make me wrong, and it doesn't make me right. It's just my opinion. You can hate it, but that's your problem. You keep doing it your way and rebuilding and fixing your cars over and over if that brings you enjoyment. I won't get after you for it. It's how you like to do things. That's fine.
I enjoy every mile that I'm in my car. I love my car. I don't think it's anything incredible by your standards (or anyone else's for that matter), but it's the best thing ever to me. And that's all that matters. Why? Because it's MY car. I'm not expecting to get a great resale value out of it. I just wanna use it how I wanna use it. I wanna spend the miles in that car doing something productive. Will that happen anytime soon?? Nah. I've got quite a bit to go. I only have ~10,500 miles on it now. It's hardly even broken in. But when I actually get started on the car, I will be buying myself something else. I bought the car for more than just a ride to and from work. For now, it will have to be that and I have no problem with it. But in the future, things will be different. And that's MY choice.
I didn't mean for this to turn into a huge argument lol good lord. I was just sharing some thoughts.
No hard feelings, Steve. I still love you hah![]()

There is nothing wrong with wanting to keep a "nice" car well, "nice". My next vehicle will be a weekend toy. What irritates me is the people that let their car sit thinking the car's value is going to depreciate due to the miles increasing. Guess what, that POS lost value the minute you drove it off the lot. I used to be SUPER anal about my cars but as you grow up, you realize that it's a machine with a purpose to get you from point A to point B. That doesn't mean you shouldn't take care of it which a lot of people do. That doesn't mean my next car will be my next car will be used and abused like my WRX. I want one near mint condition that I can continue to care for yet enjoy. At the end of the day, who gives a rats ass whom does what with their car.
