What!! I respect the Army and all but Marines is for sure the better or the two. And I may need to get another application since the guy hasn't called me in for training yet. They for some reason do not answer the phone at 4pm either.

i dont feel like typing but i found a few quotes of exactly how i feel

"Another one is most people that joins the Army Joins for other reason's than people who joins The Marine Corps, If you join The Marine Corps is because you want to change, you want to be tough, you know you going to be pushed mentally and physically, you don't want things to be given to you, but you want to earn it. Now if you care more about the benefits and the money from bonuses DO NOT JOIN THE MARINE CORPS, The Marine Corps is not so good when it comes to that. Only join the Marine Corps to prove something to yourself and not anybody else"

"I'm a veteran -I'm not going to say who is better but who does a better job? that is "The Marines". It doesn't matter how you train, because the army and the marines train almost equally, the Army Grunts train really hard from what I'm told, but The Marines grunts trains really hard too. But when it comes to pogues, Persons other than grunts, the army can't really spent that much time training them since they are a much larger force than us. Anyways we always going to do better: we have a lot more motivation than the Army and we are proud, and we think we are the best and that's what makes us best, also thanks to our history we feel that we have to live up to all our great battles and compliments we had, like being called Devil Dogs from German Soldiers for our fighting spirit and tenacity + President Ronald Reagan quote "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference, The Marines don't have that problem." The Army is not more than just the army. "

The army has the new gear and the new technology but what if something happens and they don't have their gear no more, they panic, they start doing things backwards and they just don't know what to do. We don't need that much heavy gear all we need is our training, our smart tactics, our M-16, a couple grenades and some Heavy weapon machines.

Don't they both do the same thing when it all gets boiled down? Don't they both fight for our freedom? That's like being a medic on an ambulance. Work for a private service like I do or work for a 911 service like Grady or FD. In the end, we do the same thing regardless of where you work or what service you join.

I have ALL the respect in the world for the Marines. They are the first into a conflict and live up to ALL the expectations. The reason I chose the Army is b/c I have a family and the benefits are better in the Army. As a Marine buddy of mine always says, "The Marines do all that they do and yet they have the worst facilities and funding."

Lockheed Martin. I'm the Older dude with the Bitchin haircut on the end. Get your A&P license. The money gets a lot better when you move into the Major Airlines or Fedex / UPS. Plan on making 100K+ when you top out at one of the majors. Of course thats with overtime.

Just letting you know that even the reserves are overseas right now. Also, don't believe half of the things that recruiters tell you, their paycheck depends on how many people they can get to sign up basically. Keep your parents in mind, but dont base your decisions off of what they say. They don't have to live with the decisions that you make (unless you just want to live off of them lol). And college as well as the military isnt for everybody

Nope. I did 4 years as an F-15 Mechanic in the Air Force. After you do 3 years in that field you can do something called "Challenge the FAA" for an A&P license. You basically take your 623's up to the local FAA Office and show them what you've been trained on. If they think its enough to use in place of going to school, they give you your "Tickets". Basically a pass to take the General, Powerplant, and Airframe tests. You then study those tests and take the exam for each one. After you pass you go to someone and take a "Oral and Practical" Exam. Basically some guy you pay a bunch of money to asks you a bunch of questions about Aircraft then you work on his or his buddys plane for free and he signs you off on your License.

When you get down to it an A&P is nothing more than a license to learn. Then you hopefully get on with the majors, Keep your damn job, then hopefully retire. Keeping the job seems to be more of a challenge than anything else in my career.

Cool, man. I'm at the suntrust hangar and the old Bellsouth (state of Georgia) hangar at Brown field working on citations, cessnas, and gulfstreams.

right now i'm a mechanic's helper. My dad's a certified trainer and can sign me to just go take my A&P when I feel I'm ready. I dont have to go to school, but i will. I plan on making my decision between aircraft or automotive by may.

I've been procrastinating the decision between the two because of the unreliability of aircraft work but since I was just laid off of my automotive job, I see there is no safe place to be in a mechanic's position. Trying to find which one I see myself spending time on schooling and picking a carreer.

I tried getting a job with the home depot guys there. They told me I didnt have any Gulfstream avionics experience so they wouldnt hire me. Which is stupid because a damn ILS, Tacan, TCAS system is basically all the goddamn same. But you catch alot of that in the majors as well. They wont take General aviation guys in Majors most of the time because they dont have heavy experience.

Wow they make you work on their stuff... Thanks for the info man! Im still trying to figure out if i want to go through finishing up this political science degree or transferring to Middle Georgia to become a mechanic. Ive heard of a good bit of people making pretty good money in the field and just figured that they will always need someone to fix airplanes ya know.

aircraft is a high risk job. being a very high luxury, when the economy plummets, the first thing in a company to go will be the coroporate aircraft. A&P school is usually 18 months. First you get your Airframe then take classes for powerplant.

Research before you jump into an aircraft job. It's fun but not always permanent.

You can easily make 20/hr after a while with an A&P certification. It's fun.

By the way, I'm sorry for everyone who lost their jobs at Drive Power. I hope everything works out for you guys.

Oh ok, well let us know how it goes.

I just washed my car with waterless car wash and wax. I haven't seen it in the daylight as I washed it in the garage with only artificial light, but it looks a lot better now that the salt, sand, and dirt are off of the car.
