You need proof of ownership to get a chipped key, but maybe there are ways around it. I cant believe someone actually stole an 03-04 Cobra....its actually pretty sad.You can buy high mileage ones for low teens. Low life pieces of shit.

Its just like the mercedes keys in Gone in 60 seconds......... they probably know someone at the dealer...... so one should follow alice and see how far this rabbit hole really goes...

If what you found out is indeed correct, gather as much documentation as possible. Hell, I would even check with Ford to see if they can trace when another key was purchased. Being that it's chipped, I would imagine they would have a way to track that in their system. At least I would hope so anyways.

Philip - I've contacted all the dealerships in GA, no luck. I'm currently working with a guy at a Subaru dealership in Texas about getting a future model. Being that that won't be for a ~1 year minimum, I'm still looking for another specific car to get me by in the meantime.

I can't believe they would make that car limited production. I bet the dealers will get more allocations after the first batch is produced. I doubt you'd have to wait till the next model year. Neat little car thats for sure

FWIW: Always cover you VIN when parking in ATL.

Subaru is offering rockin deals on new cars too. We are probably trading in the STi on a 2012 STi soon. Its only a few grand too.:idb:

I've ordered multiple keys for customers and although they don't need the car persay, you do have to provide documentation to show that you own the vehicle you're trying to get the key for.

I bought a key for the Silver Bullet without ever showing shit. Paid cash too. It took 2 weeks to get to the dealer, but worked like a charm to unlock the door and ignition. I still had to marry it, but the key itself was fine. Local dealer here in ATL.
