I think when you have a game like this, to release it on the 360 is kinda a slap in the face to the fans.
I mean you RARELY see titles that normally push the envelope pop up on the same platform. MGS seems to jump to different platforms, so did GT, etc
IMO the last racing game should have been GRID. THe graphics were REALLY good, with the playstation consoles, there was always improvements. This looks to be the same game as 2, with just more cars.

I kind of agree with you. I think that it's odd to put it on this system but with the success of the last one why not. So long as this one is a sizeable jump from the last one then it will be ok. But from what I understand COD5 pretty much pushed the 360 to the edge of its graphical limits.
I think the other reason for the push on the current platform is that GT5 is promised to be out by christmas this year.
From what I hear Nintendo and Microsoft are already developing new platforms but I haven't heard much.

Yeah so all that really tells you is better graphics, and more cars. and maybe a drift engine! other than that it was just a theatrical trailer!
I think that video was also meant to show that replays can be directed by the user now. However, I never really got into the picture taking(both gt4 and forza 2) and probably won't get into this either, but i'm sure there are some out there.
its already been confirmed that theres no drift engine. it'll have the same driving physics as before because they dont want to mess it up for the guys that already drift on Forza 2. but they are at least adding in car view, more detail, full on crashes including flips and mountain tracks again

its not gonna happen, xbox 360 is supposed to last another 5 years, they say they have just gotten started with the system, and it was designed to be upgraded over the years.. Forza 2, was released in 360's early development, and now its been opened up a bit more. graphics are great, but forza's game play and customization is what made it step ahead of GT.
i dont call grid a real simulation, i think its more arcade racing. Forza 2 didnt look too much more advanced than 1, it was just polished up. there was alot of room for improvement for 3.

I havent seen a game that really pushed 360s graphics anywhere near PS3. Ps3 is still way farther ahead .
I agree graphics arent everything, and that is why Xbox has been such a great seller. it has the games where PS3 is still lacking. I mean PS3 has had 2 games IMO that were on a whole other level and that was DEADSPACE and Resistance 2. The graphics and gameplay in those was incredible. KillZone 2 would be up there if it wasnt for its shit ass targeting system.
Like it or not RE5 was way ahead in graphics too. I personally liked the game.
UNcharted , what they did with the environments was amazing.
GT Prologue i wasnt impressed with, the graphics were sick, but i just didnt get attatched to it at all. Prob cause it was 1/100 of what the real game is going to be.
IMO the 360 is at its end in graphics department. I Highly doubt you will see them add on to it in terms of graphics. They cant do it its the hardware not software or firmware. Also, the 360 has dropped to like $199 when it used to be $400 only like a year or so ago. Microsoft is making far less money, they may be moving volume, but the price has dropped.
I agree they can ride a wave of popularity, but they better watch out and hope they dont ride it too long. The tide can turn overnight. If the developers start looking more and more towards the PS3s tech, Microsoft will fall into sonys problem and that was being a year behind its competitors.
MS had an entire year to get their system out and selling before PS3 even saw the shelves. IMO they had more like 1.5-2 years because the first year of the PS3 there was barely any games out.
I just think with a title like FORZA you would use that to launch their new system. Like GOW3 better not be a 360 game, it better be on the next system or ill be dissapointed.

I think PS3 will become dominant after 2 or 3 more years (they definitely have some catching up to do in the States and Europe). The thing is, that I'm quite sure that Microsoft will release a next gen system before Sony, and I wouldn't be surprised if the gap between XBox "3" and PS4 will be larger than 360 and PS3.
The fact that PS2 outsold PS3 this past year shows that prices are a huge concern to the consumer. PS3 needs a price drop. While they do have a higher profit margin charging $399 vs. $199 (XBox), they aren't selling as many systems. Therefore they aren't selling as many games. Therefore game producers aren't making as much money.
As far as the "sequels on the same system is a mistake" argument, I say bah. PS3 fans are just saying this because all of the first round sequels have just recently been released to their systems so it's fresh in your head.GT 1 and 2 were both released on PS. And GT 3 and 4 were both released on PS2.
Sony and microsoft have said they arent in the process of making a new system, MS has said the 360 has 5years left in it atleast. And Sony, has no plans of a new one yet. Nintendo is supposedly gonna upgrade the Wii in the next few years tho.
I will give GT graphics, but its basic gameplay simulation. They lied to us for all these years and said GT doesnt have damage because the manufacturers wont allow it...lol. Xbox has the community, and the online on lock. And thats key nowadays, PSN isnt no where near the XbL.

though the graphics are pretty amazing, it still has that cartoony almost cell shaded look. I don't like the way the cars gloss in the sunlight.
and I can't see 360 going anywhere soon. Have you guys heard of the upcomming "Project Natal" for the 360. It will put the Wii out of it's misery. You can only imagine what the next 5 or so years will be like.

all i care about is the need to be more open and diverse on the customation, tuning, and also be able to dyno tune! they do that and the game will be full of win for me!
I'm still debating on wheather or not to buy another Xbox 360. I've had 2 already and both had the 3 rings within 6 months. I just thought maybe I'd try out the PS3. But I do enjoy Forza. Would buying an Elite 360 be better?

And about Forza 3.... I think it looks awesome! Hopefully it will have more options with the cars and not just ALL exotic vehicles. I'm am sorta excited about the Mountain tracks. I heard something about "touge" was going to be on the game also.

F2 had a large number of normal vehicles, and a minimal of exotcis, besides the ferraris.. so with 2x+ more in 3, im sure we will be happy!

I always joked that Forza 3 would come out before GT5 since they have delayed that to oblivion. Now I guess I'm right!

EDIT: It would be kinda dumb to put so much money into making a new system when the economy is like this. I don't think a lot of people will want to shell out another $400-500 for a new system.

well not all of BlackJack have it. the only person so far that has it is SideFX (Landin Williams). a fair bit of the team is going up to New York to play it soon. hopefully it wont be a let down. ill definately keep you guys updated when i hear more back from either BLKJ SlapHappy or BLKJ Takahashi

I got my elite when they first came out. It lasted until about 2 months ago before it got the rings. I sent it back on a monday and microsoft had it back to my door on friday, working like new. I never really noticed it was gone. At least they are quick about repairing units that have the 3 rings.
I also got a PS3 when they first came out. I had nothing but problems with it and sold it a few months later. I waited a year or so and bought a new PS3 after it seemed that most of the bugs were worked out.
Both systems seem to have improved a lot over the last 2 years or so in terms or reliability.
I'll definitely be buying Forza 3, Modern Warfare 2, and hopefully GT5 when they come out in november/december. Those are going to be busy months with all the new games coming out.

It rings because of heat, the originals didnt have enough heat sinks to dissapate heat properly, over the ages tey added more cooling. also standing it up impeades airflow, lay it down. The new motherboard design greatly reduces RROD. I swapped my guts out for a newer hdmi capable MoBo and works great.

I'm not impressed. The cars still look like they have mirrors for fenders and Forza 2's excuse for damage was terrible so i doubt they have realized a car hitting a wall at 200 mph experiences more than some scratches on the front end.
I sold my 360 just for GT5 Prologue. Yes, a 1/100 demo was better for me than was a full blown game which didn't stand up to the PS3.
Gran Turismo has never disappointed me with anything they have done so GT5 is the only thing i care about.
Unlike Forza, they don't rush a game out to be out before the competition even if it isn't ready.
yeah I gotta agree, GT never disappointed me. and personally I could give a shit about car damage. You're not suppose to crash anyways lol. But my original plan was to buy a ps3 when GT5 came out, after it got pushed back again i said fuck it. I received the 360 as a Christmas gift and have been in love with it ever since. And to me, even though Forza has more realistic detail for driving, traction, mods and engine swaps etc. it's not as fun as GT. And nothing beats the old car showrooms and historic showrooms in GT4. Driving a supercharged MR2 was so fun as well as the first skylines haha!

I agree GT will be better if ever finish the damn game. However it isn't.
