just curious as to what ppl here think about the favre situation that's been unfolding the last few wks. latest can be found here:

where it's being reported that the pack is willing to pay him $20 million for 10 yrs to just not play at all.

i've personally liked him ever since i was little and lived up in wisconsin, watched his tearful retirement press conference and everything but realized immediately that the guy wasn't done.

i also don't see what he really NEEDS the money for at this point, i mean obviously him wanting to come back isn't a matter of money, it's bc he still wants to play.

with that said, i think he should come back still, how about everyone else?

I think Farve is a moron for coming back after that "emotional" retirement he had not even 5 months ago. He's basically ruining his legend, in Green Bay, and in alot of peoples eyes around the country cause he's acting like a child. He spent years toying with Greenbay flip-flopping on whether or not he was going to return, then he finally retires and comes back.. Just keep your dumbass retired and go out a legend.

I mean at most he's gonna come back for what, 1 or 2 years? Is it really worth ****ing up your reputation?

If I was in his shoes, I would go out a legend and spend time with my daughters, and enjoy the 20 mill that the packers offered him to do absolutely nothing.

if it was really the love of the game, he wouldnt be reportedly considering taking that 20 mil to stay away. taking the money and staying away would be the worst thing to do in terms of "tarnishing his legacy" because it goes back on all the things he said about it being the love of the game and not about the money.

in laymans terms, its a ***** move if he takes the money and runs after all this

^^^exactly. but at the same time you gotta think, how can you not consider it? bc it's already been a hassle as it is trying to get back into the game, if he says no to this then it'll be just that much more he'll have to try to get through before he gets traded or released.

FWIW, reports are now that he is leaning towards turning down the offer and going ahead with reinstatement.

I think he should just take the money and lay low. I understand having a love for something, I mean, come on... he's arguably one of the greatest professional football players we have ever seen. Of COURSE he has a love of the game. So he should take the $20 mil and "scratch his itch" in other ways. $20 million can make a LOT of difference in youth programs and volunteer work. If he has such an itch, let him coach a kid's team and give back to the community, and work with giving better opportunities to people who don't get paid $20mil to sit around and do nothing. For all we know, a quarterback that has the potential to be greater than he dreamed could be walking down the street in a rough area of town and we would never know because he wasn't given the opportunity. I think Favre should quit being wishy washy, stay retired, and start giving back.

well ven at his age hes still better than 90% of the others QB in the league,and if he still wants to be there,y not let him.......its not like hes gonna hurt the packers,he will help them

Honestly I think people should let him do what he wants. Football has obviously been his life and he has said he was never sure of his decision.

Like Tony said when you lose something like that you go downhill physically and mentally. I can relate as I ran track and cross country from junior high all the way through high school. I lived breathed and ate running. Getting up at 5 and breathing in that cool crisp air with a select few was one of the best parts of my day. I have a lot of great memories with people I wouldn't have met had it not been for Track. I wish I could still run competitively but I made some dumb decisions and developed a bad case of runners knee that keeps me from trying to do anything too agressive.

Goodell just reinstated Favre to the NFL, and he has been placed on the Packers active roster and will report to training camp on Monday. Negotiations are still happening to reach a marketing deal to keep him retired, but as of right now Favre is no longer retired and is an active player in the National Football League.

I look at the last 3 years of him dragging his feet before coming back as him trying to get healed up and rested before making the decision. Last year he made the decision when he was still tired and beat up and he learned he made the wrong decision.

All of the controversy came in when brett said he wanted to be released from the Packers when he came back and the Packers wouldnt do it. I read on a blog about him saying that he wanted the release so he wouldnt screw up Rodgers in GB by his coming back too.

Let me man play. We saw last year he still has all of the tools, and he still has the drive to play.
