hd dvd = a format that is no longer made.. so probably not.
Also they just found new SKU's for the xbox360 that include a blu-ray drive. If anything it would be worth upgrading to this system.
what are the sku's im thinking about buying one today.
not really sure on the fine detaisl there.
but basically before you release a product u register the SKu's.
Basically tons of people out there look thru these everyday at hints at upcoming products.
how they found the new 80gb ps3.. the bundled ps3's etc etc.
So they found these new xbox360 ones a few days back but no idea when they will be released. if anyone works at a best buy maybe they can check their system for new xbox systems in there and release dates
i co-worker plays in a band with a guy at best buy im gonna go see what i can find out.
I saw on G4 that there will be an external Blu Ray player available for Xbox but I don't know when it will be released.
UGA: Everybody is laughing at us this year.
from what i googled its supposed to ship around september. guess ill just buy a ps3 and get gt5
I talked to a buddy at best buy today and he said that there were no new sku numbers. guess we will have to wait and see.
As of right now (from what I know), the Blu-Ray player for the Xbox 360 is still not confirmed 100%. Microsoft did a second denial of this news. Can anyone post an conclusive news on this?

you can find the 360 add on now for as low as $10. whether or not it's worth it is up to you. i bought mine beginning of the yr and managed to get near 30+ hd dvds for the cheap so i'm definitely keeping it. i'll either get a ps3 or a bluray player later on down the road.
yeah my buddy said not to even buy them(hd movies) in the store. their 15 bucks online and if you spend over 50 you get free shpping or you can to site to store.Originally Posted by shagwAg3n
well that and most stores don't carry them anymore...stick w/the online places if you get one, they're only goin to get cheaper as time goes on.
Sell the Xbox, buy the PS3 and call it a day......
I got free clear tails with my ride.....
wont sell the xbox. just bought the wireless wheel for it. but will definitely get ps3 before to long.
Even better, then.... you can play all the games (both Xbox and PS3) and watch cool blu-ray movies......

microsoft will of course deny this information
just like sony denied a price drop on ps3's till day before it happened. or they denied release of 80gb models etc.
all companies will deny things like this until they officially have their PR group announce it. thats how the business's work. If microsoft feels their not ready to announce it, even if its available lets say in 2 weeks, they will deny all "rumors"
but the SKU thing is normally always correct, and this time simply because also one of the blu-ray drive manufacturers hinted at winning a huge microsoft BD drive contact as well. and in fact there was news that asus was supposed to get the contract but instead it went to someone else. Or from someone else to asus i forget.
There is alot of news surrounding this to simply be rumor. But if its a "add-on" or in built i dont think theres confirmation. the new SKU's could simply be a package for the 360 + blu-ray add on.. or with built in. that part will have to wait to see.
Either way I would not purchase the add-on's. They way MS has it setup via the USB through the 360, the sound quality on these movies is almost always lost. high lvl encodes that is. If a distributor puts a ****ty low lvl old encode it wont matter, but I personally dont think its worth it. You also lose some video quality, which you may or may not notice.
