    sand down the clear coat with 1500 wet sandpaper..... the paint you can either mix it half paint/ half reducer depending on how thick the paint is.... most clears are 4 to 1(meaning 4 clear and 1 hardener) tape first all the edges and then on top put the paper... will you be using newspaper????

    Also What color are you planing on painting? If its a silver or something with a lot of pearl or flake you might not want to start with a color thats difficult to spray for your first paint job.
