They see me trollinnnnn
I found this thread, but there are probably a couple of more. Many on IA posted their setups along with pictures. this may help you get an idea
How low do you ride?
I love how OP never came back in here through a good debate.
its hard to explain until u see it.. you know how some springs have a groove that they sit into to keep it from rotating forward and backward, on the perches. well when it gets cut, and it cant sit in that grove, it will roatate forward or backward. and you wont be able to hold an alighnment.. but thats just some strut designs. Thats what my rears do.
With the heat you dont have that problem because your not cutting of that part, you are just compressing the spring.
If i was able to get a set of struts, i would and have my coils heated...the second time around. Which is y i am gonna heat the rear, and leave the front cut. because i dont have the alignment problem up front.
Every strut is different and most oem struts will blow when you lower the car, if they arent designed for that. Some better than others, some have longer shafts that can take this.
JUST GET SOME KNOI/GROUND CONTROL END OF STORY....i had kyb agx and teins they were good...
wish i woulda came through wayy earlier for this whole debate...i woulda saves all u guys alot of trouble..lol...jus bought brank spankin new d2 suspension from one of my friends..haha...thanks fellas...

Dont be cheap ! do it right the 1st time...
There's nothing wrong with "being cheap," homey. Just have to know what you're doing. A lot of people underestimate things they don't know a lot about. I'm not trying to single you out, cactus, or talk down to you, but it's the truth. I was taught how to heat a car up back in 1987 and did my first that next week. I've never looked back, ese. Later, QD.
I'm not disagreeing with QD about heating the springs, because I've never done it and have no experience with heated springs, but I've had great luck with cut springs (even on stock shocks) (stock springs, eibach, skunk2, ebay coilovers, etc).

them number one (the yellow one) coilovers are decent. i had some for like 80 bucks.
on some good stock shock..and not being slammed...it held up pretty good.
when i hear "JDM" i think about 1998 and FF SQUAD. the originators
BABIES "R" US crew
try going some research....google/ yahoo/ etc etc
never ever ever heat your springs!!! it will weaken your springs and will be even sloppier than before. atleast if you cut your springs they will be a little stiffer. but the best way is to just go with a good coilover
Ive had Tein basic coilovers for a while now and its pretty good.... just my .02

What's your reasoning for saying it'll make the springs weaker? You do realize metal has to reach it's high transformation temperature (your basic propane torch isn't capable of reaching this point for the metal used for automobile coil springs), for the heating to actually be able to change the metal's properties. Not only that, but if cooled at the proper temperature, for the correct amount of time, the springs could be made STRONGER by heating.
