At least this is better than primer so it doesn't absorb moisture but it still looks bad unless you pay somebody to spray it with a hose everytime you are driving it.
It's a $35 paint job man. I see absolutely nothing stupid at all about it. It's not what YOU would do, great. But for others who might not care, it's great. It's sort of like the internet and people who talk out of their ass......you can't teach stupid. But i'm gonna try with you.

If you don't care about a paint job then why paint it? It looks like a bad paint job to me. It's blue which isn't primer so that's a start but save your money and do it right. I don't want to paint my car because its just going to get keyed? Ugly hazy blue is the same as ugly hazy primer.

For the record I sprayed my bmw 2002 with a gravity feed gun and home depot paint in the garage and it turned out 10000x times better for maybe 25 bucks more. Short memories on here.

Dang, that's pretty sweet. Totally beats paying big bucks for a paint job if you don't mind that much.

^it took us about 4 1/2 hours to sand everything down with the scotch bright pads, rub it down with a tacky cloth and taping everything.

i actually gotta repaint my bumper, lost it at the drift event today.

Looks like a matte-blue color, guess you won't have to worry about getting scratches on the clear-coat since it doesn't have one. I suppose it's not too bad for a $35 paint job.

I think that it looks great considering how much the supplies cost to paint it. And even if he does decide to get a "real" paint job later down the road, the sunk cost spent on the current paint job is so minimal that its more than worth it to rock this over primer paint, even considering the extra prep required to repaint it next time.
    I can agree on this.

Hrmm, sounds interesting. I'm not too knowledgeable on what type of Home Depot paint one would use for a DIY paint job. Care to elaborate? Pics of the BMW?

You dont remember my 2002 from about 4-5 years ago? Used to be green and the we painted it in the garage with a 26 gallon compressor, old gravity feed gun and exterior enamel that is thinned acetone and japan drier. No clear just thick ass bright blue paint.

Can't blame kids for not remembering as they might have not been driving then. But as you will notice there is no haze and no bullshit and it still cost 80 bucks. But you know what fuck it and spray paint it because that's good enough for you but for people that like cars to shine without being wet then I'd suggest a different option.

Even a roller job is better than rattling it. The main goal is to lay it on relatively thick then sand it smooth. With a rattle can it will always be uneven and spotty, especially on larger surface areas. Typically it is fine on door jambs or wheels.

There are tool rental places that rent out everything needed.

depends on what you get. you could spend $100 or $1000 just depends on what quality of supplies you get, and paint.
