    Default LMP2 engine decisions: 5.0L V8 or 3.2L Turbo V6?

ok, so here is the question... Our team is considering stepping up and running an LMP2 car next year in the American Le Mans series, the rules state that you can run a naturally aspirated V8 up to 5.0 Liters or a turbocharged/ supercharged V6 up to 3.2l. Now realistically you can make the same HP numbers from either, while making more torque from the V8 but get better fuel economy and less emissions from the turbo V6. Decisions decisions.. Anyone have any input?

Strangest thread in IA history goes to....lol

Naw, need more details. What chassis? What engines as in what manufacturer? What are you all currently racing? What team do you work for?

Ya, I knew it was a strange one but, I am interested in other opinions. Currently we run an Elan DP-02 chassis in the Cooper tires prototype lites series, http://www.prototypelites.com/, we are considering running the Oreca LMP2 chassis, http://www.oreca-racing.com/racing-c...facturer/lmp2/, and given our current relationship with Elan, it will most likely be powered by either the 5.0L Ford V8, or the new 3.2L ecoboost, also from Ford.

    Do you work at Comprent?

Why not run LMPC? LMP2 is cooler but with the nature of ACO type sports car racing right now I'd sit back and watch to see how things play out. You can't go wrong with an Oreca chassis. What about the new Lola (B12/80)?

I really don't know what engine program I would go with. Maybe a Nissan or HPD motor, something proven and competitive.
