    Drifting is not faster, anywhere.

Ever heard of four wheel drift?

NEVER would it be faster to swing your car out, light the tires up, and bounce of rev limiter through a turn. I am having a hard time picturing a drift car beating even a damn IT car in the hairpin at Road Atlanta sideways.

proven fact that driftings been around since RWD its quicker to drift a turn than to brake and turn.
Ask any professional drifter that question and you might be suprised at the answer

just because you are drifting doesn't necessarily mean you are baking the tires at maximum angle around a corner... that is just for show... I know for a fact that I can drift faster through some corners than gripping... I read something about this a while back in an article about Grip vs. Drift that I wish I could find... it was basically talking about the G's on the front tires and how its less when drifting than while gripping so ultimately you could go faster while drifting without understeer.... and it had something to do with the angle of the car and the momentum at that angle plus the force of the rear wheels at that angle... I dunno tho... I'm just gunna keep doing what I do...

Ok, first, not ALL road racers think every other form of motorsport sucks. I used to be a HUGE drift fan, had my 240, all that, lol. Even when I got my Miata I wanted to drift. I have respect for it, it's cool, I go watch, etc. I don't really like the wannabe drift crowd with all the JDM crap and talk like they drift, and get out there and totally SUCK.

Road racers do buy engine mods too, suspension is big yes, but you have to have some power as well lol.

Some resources on why drifting would be slower, not sure about where to find a RESOURCE, but you think the cars running that section at drift Atlanta are faster sliding then regular driving? Ever noticed when a car loses his drift and drives normal on the sliding guys ass before initiating another drift? In say rally, small tight u-turns and such obviously would be quicker sliding, some tight mountain roads maybe.

If drifting was FASTER, why the hell do all race cars not drift? DRIFTING is more about style. Some road race cars do have four wheel drifts in many turns, not totally sideways d0rifto.

MskunkM no worries, I was just saying, i'm not mad or anything. I don't hate drifting like I said.

Now if someone wants to do an experiement, lets get a good drifter, and a good autocross driver at the next drift event. Time the drifter, then the autocrosser, I can bet some big money who will win.

Not trying to be a ****, just saying drifting is not FASTER. Stylish and all yes, good car control yes, but not the fastest way around a race track.

agreed. there are many forms of drift as you said some faster some more about style... im about style, speed i love, but i guess its the artist in me that finds controlled chaos exillerating as well as visially stimulating.
im not saying im the best **** im still rolling stock but i am an excelent driver and im buildng this team so i may learn so everyone can learn as a TEAM should.

only in certain situations would drifting a turn be faster. not all and not many but a very limited few.

LOL. So people still believe drifting is faster in some cars and/or tight corners? What is this, 2004? This is why I hate drifting and drifters. 90% of the people involved are certified idiots, you can stamp that. Btw, it's NEVER faster on a high grip surface, which is just about all the surfaces you "drifters" will run into.
Please tell me if you think my car looks good. But don't tell me if you think it's ugly - only on IA

    ok look

it depends on the road surface

    it depends on the speed

it depends on the radius of the turn

in some cases drifting is faster

in other cases gripping is faster

EDIT: and if you want a more diverse team of good drifters...you better hit up Austin from Simply German, Jamie from CCR, and my buddy todd who drifts a Z, other than that, the other good drivers rock 240s...its just how it is when you are in grassroots drifting, take the best application, take the best motor, biggest aftermarket then go drift..its the most simple way and the cheapest

    Default Drift

Where would the practices be held, and what kind of tires do you have available? Size? I have a couple RWD cars that would do the job. What sanctioning body / division would you look to compete in?
    Thanks,

Well why don't you EVER see them drift? Not even time attack. Explain, where do you see it used for fast laps?
