Default The maxima's replacement - I got a new car to play with

Skip to the bottom if you don't want to read my life's story!!!!

So I sold my maxima a few weeks ago and have been in the market for a car, I just didn't know exactly what I wanted, so I started searching for a new car under 7K that I could buy cash. I looked at integras but realized they're not for someone 6'2, I looked at a s14 240sx but realized it wasn't for tall people either, and finally I learned after driving both of those cars I wanted something newer, and stock. I say that because it seems every integra/240 I looked at was beat to crap, poorly maintained, and just not nice.

I realized I wanted a newer model car. So while doing a search for newer body style maxima(I had almost given up hope at this point) I found an ad for a sentra b15 s-er spec v. I ended up calling the guy last night, talked and set up a time to meet today. It's an 04, 6 speed, 70k miles, fully loaded model(minus the brembo brakes) and it was black! It came with a nismo CAI, nismo shift knob, and nismo cat back which sounded pretty decent. Other than that it was stock which was awesome.

When I started driving it I knew I'd buy it. The ride was very nice, quiet, smooth, and it handled very well. The only problem I could find was that the interior plastics are cheap(it is what it is, this aint no benz) and getting into 6th gear is a bitch, the shifter wants to either go in 4th or reverse, not 6th lol. Also the cup holder suck.

I ended up getting the car for 2k-3k less than blue book so I ended up buying it. So far I like it a lot. I love the way it drives and it seems like it gets good gas mileage and it's actually pretty quick.

So far I've seafoamed it, installed new spark plugs and changed the oil. In the next month I plan to lower it on springs, install new header, refinish the stock wheels in hyper black(professionally of course), repaint car black, get a new grill, polish the headlights, and get window tint. Other than that I just plan to drive it daily and perhaps get a project car next year.

    update- 9.7.11

Progress has been decent so far on my DD. Since the last update I installed new brakes, got windows tinted 5% rear, 32% sides, lightweight crank pulley, and installed a srs header. Next up is going to be getting a Nismo front/rear lips adn the car painted, and wheels/coilovers next year.

    Here's a few pics.

if it's going to be a stockish daily, I say lower, lip, grille, and make sure the ac/heat are up to par.

Yeah I like it a lot so far, I've been wanting a manual for a while now too. It'll stay pretty stock for now. Ac blows cold!

Nice find, they are so much fun to drive. I had an 03 SE-R in 2008 until the motor went a month after i got it. As long as its your daily, you're good.

i severly dislike those 2.5 nissan made starting 2002, i sell those and they are expensive and bad motors, take super good care of this one, i passed on an 02 spec v for dirt cheap, the are very torquey on the low end

No offense but the car you sold is three times the car you bought in every aspect . I know it's a dd and I'm glad you found what you wanted which looks like a nice car for what it is. I just don't understand why you would sell a car known for running forever and just really a all around nice car to buy one that's known for having nothing but problems. I used to sell them trust me they are turds (sell it while you still can) and the altimas are turds also unless you replace the cat early enough . Don't get me wrong looks like you found a nice car for a good deal if that's the car you want just look up the problems and fix them so you can enjoy it for a long time.

The maxima was alright, but I'm liking this a lot better. Can't wait to see it next month when you get some pics up.

It seems like these cars have a lot of negative stigma about them. Personally, what sold me on the car is the way it drove. It's just a lot of fun to drive and I like it. I don't plan to heavily mod it, just do some small stuff and then I plan to buy a 2nd project car next year.

The maxima was nicer, but then again I spent 7k into it to make it that nice. I mean go look at a pic of a stock maxima, then look at mine lol. My maxima was ugly as hell stock but I saw the potential it COULD look like and i made it nice, but now I wanted something a little more sporty. The sentra definitely needs work to be nice, but it'll get there in a few months. =D

You did good. There are only 2 things wrong with the motor and they can be addressed very easily. If it were a 2002 I would say get rid of it cause that was the first year and they had problems. 04-06 are good other than the precat and buttlerfly problem and I'm sure you know all about them by now. If you have any questions hit me up

The QR25 in stock form has 2 little problems. The butterfly valve screws and the cats coming apart and getting sucked back into the engine. Take care of those immediately. Otherwise they're stout as hell. I had my boosted '04 Spec V that was putting down around 310whp and didn't have the first problem and it had been boosted for a few years... no internal work. Haters gonna hate, but the QR is lighter than the SR and bigger than the KA.

I saw a black maxima at SPSU in marietta. G35 wheels, lip kit, black, dual tip straight cut aftermarket exhaust. Did you set yours back to stock height?

    update- 9.7.11

Progress has been decent so far on my DD. Since the last update I installed new brakes, got windows tinted 5% rear, 32% sides, lightweight crank pulley, and installed a srs header. Next up is going to be getting a Nismo front/rear lips adn the car painted, and wheels/coilovers next year.

    Here's a few pics.

This is simply a DD, I'm not going to heavily mod this car. One day when I want a fast car I'll buy a mustang or 240. This sentra gets awesome gas mileage though!
