    Default Chinese M3 Tiger Edition

    Nice!

On the Chinese Zodiac calendar, 2010 marks the year of the tiger. In celebration, BMW is building a special Chinese-market M3 Tiger Edition packing the same M3 punch with added visual growl.

BMW hasn't officially announced the car yet but has confirmed its existence. So far, it looks as though the Tiger Edition will be limited purely to cosmetic tweaks. The front fascia of the Tiger Edition nearly mimics that of the M3 GTS, with blacked out kidney grilles and lower air intakes, and sporting the same Fire Orange Metallic color as the GTS. The Tiger Edition will ride on black 19-inch wheels with black chrome exhaust tips peering out the back like tiger eyes.

The interior is perhaps the fiercest aspect of the M3 Tiger Edition. Black leather with contrasting orange stitching covers the seats, and the headrests feature embossed orange tiger's heads. The door sills also feature the orange Tiger Edition emblem.

The M3 Tiger Edition will be powered by the same normally aspirated, 4.0-liter V-8 used across the M3 lineup (excluding the GTS) that produces 414 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It's unknown if the Tiger Edition will be offered with both a six-speed manual and BMW's seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, or limited to one option.

Early reports indicate only 250 copies will be built, but the price is unknown. Official information on the car is expected to come from BMW in the next few weeks.

Do you think BMW has taken the idea of special edition M3s too far with the Tiger Edition?
