Doesn't everyone on here make fun of all the donks riding around ATL? Well, a lot of them have way more money into them than our cars(as a whole), right?

And my car is my car. It isn't necessarily stock. have I done a lot to it? No. I decided to spend my money on suspension and quite a few stereo setups. Idk when you decided to pull my car into this and I am not sure why you really did.

If I had any other honda than an LS Integra, believe me, it would be modded out. I just like my car in it's mostly stock forum way too much.

And I'm allowed to make fun of yours if you make a comment that I find unintelligent. It's just the internet brotana. I do not disrespect any car that has quality work done to it, because that's what has brought the car scene down in the first place. This whole "if you can't get an ebay ripoff of a part, it's rice" shit is going way too far. And the number one offenders just so happen to drive slow, stock looking Hondas. When I had my Civic that was mostly stock I would not have had the audacity to make fun of any well built vehicle, regardless of whether I actually liked it or not. Just sayin'.

    Seriously?! I'm an idiot?!

I had $16k in mods in my '06 sti, stock turbo and methanol. No body kit, no fmic, no ugly ass mirrors, and I still had the stock hood. I venture to say the car in question has all kinds of bushings, aftermarket clutch, bigger turbo, guages, short throw, maybe even a built motor. The lip (kit), wheels, mirrors, hood, and other fancy non-go fast parts cost probably $10k alone, not to mention $2k+ for coilovers, more than likely.

I suggest you know who you're calling an idiot before you open your cockholster, kid.

Most of the people on here don't realize how much money really goes into actually modding a car. It is easy to put 20k into a car and not even realize it. I've got a little over 6k in my talon and it still looks stock except for wheels.

What does that fuck know about modding a car anyway, he drives a stock integra...

My STi is stock but out of all the cars Ive owned they have all been heavily modified, the only reason the STi is still stock is because everything for it is expensive as fuck, its going in the shop this coming weekend though for the first time ever...

Exactly. I completely agree with you. I am beginning to mod the E55. Right now I have a set of wheels sitting on the bed. I need tires and lowering module just to mount the wheels!

    Wheels- $4700

    Tires- $1000+

    Lowering module- $2k

JUST TO BE LOWERED ON WHEELS!

The s/c pulley is $2k from RennTech, long tubes are probably $4k+, $2k for a tune.

The list goes on, and on, and on. This doesn't include the blacked out grill, emblems, etc I want to do, nor does it include the dry carbon lip and dry carbon diffuser I want made.

Modding cars is an expensive, but satisfying hobby.

You have to pay to play.

    Debatable, but true.

I could easily have a ford festiva in the low 13s and pretty well set up for autocross for under $1500, including the cost of the car.

But I do agree, you have to pay to play.

Yep, but some people don't want to drive around in a shitbox if they can afford it. Granted, for a track car it would be cool, but go drive a BONE STOCK sti. It will put a hugeeeeeee grin on your face, especially if you know how to actually drive the shit out of it.

That's not always the case. If you shop right and do your homework, you can get by with a very nicely done car for a good, low cost. Later, QD.

But would it still look like ass? Yes. And for $1500 bucks it might do it a few times, but it wouldn't last too long.

Sorry, let me clarify. I was talking full engine builds, real coilovers, tranny builds, half shafts, and all the little nickel and dime things most everyone over looks, like mounts, bushings, etc. When you get that deep into one it can start ringing up thousands quick. And you still have a stock looking car.

It all depends on what car you start with. You can't build an Sti for cheap, the dollar/HP ratio is too high, even with used parts. And you have to consider the supplementing mods to that as well. I'm in the process of finishing my DSM, and I can achieve what I want without too much cash because the 4g63 is so cheap to modify for what you end up getting. But you are right, you can spend much less(relatively) if you take your time.

If you don't believe me, fine. Swap the mazda BP engine from the protege LX(130hp to the wheels) in the festiva. It isn't hard. It will run as long as you care to change the oil and will hang with cars 20x its value.

Quick dodge might know what I am talking about.

LOL. You are still just talking about swapping an engine into a shitty car. What about suspension? How about safety? How about tranny?

It didn't say anthing about "low" cost. If you start with an Sti and do it right, even if it's relatively cheap, it's not even close to being straight up cheap.

And you still have a stock looking car.
Again, it's all about shopping around. And your knowledge of cars. If you can find the stuff you need at prices under the norm and know how to install or do most of the work yourself, your costs are going to be much lower. And it really has to do with the car you start off with as well. It's probably impossible to even get started modifying a Porsche without a beginning price of several thousand dollars. But you could turn around and make some damn good power out of a Dodge neon for that same amount. Later, QD.

Huh? I said "that's not always the case" and you said "it all depends on what you start with." Your response solidifies mine. It was part of the same track. Later, QD.
