And just to illustrate how bad ass that Jag is, (and this is from Jalopnik), to do that today you would have to do the following:

1. Acquire last year’s Le Mans winner: the Audi R10
2. Fit passenger door and seat
3. Fit rudimentary canvas top
4. Install windshield
5. Remove giant rear wing
6. Replace headlight assembly
7. Add a bit of chrome

And you’re done! Notice how it’s remained a race car with a featherweight carbon fiber body and a 700 HP V12 turbodiesel.

But the engine in the XKSS was not a turbodiesel. It was a gasoline-fueled straight six with triple Webers, good for 250 HP, brain-meltingly loud at 6,000 RPM and also very pretty. In a very British way.
