And just to illustrate how bad ass that Jag is, (and this is from Jalopnik), to do that today you would have to do the following:

    1. Acquire last year’s Le Mans winner: the Audi R10
    2. Fit passenger door and seat
    3. Fit rudimentary canvas top
    4. Install windshield
    5. Remove giant rear wing
    6. Replace headlight assembly
    7. Add a bit of chrome

And you’re done! Notice how it’s remained a race car with a featherweight carbon fiber body and a 700 HP V12 turbodiesel.

But the engine in the XKSS was not a turbodiesel. It was a gasoline-fueled straight six with triple Webers, good for 250 HP, brain-meltingly loud at 6,000 RPM and also very pretty. In a very British way.

Didn't McQueen have it in his contract that if he drove the car it was his?

I saw a photo shoot long time ago of the garage structure that had all of his cars.

Of the two real Bullitt Mustangs, one was destroyed in filming and the other found its way to a recluse that never let anyone see it. Steve even attempted to buy it before he died to no success.

This is a rare photo of Steve McQueen in Taiwan (even though some say Japan) on the set of 'The Sand Pebbles'. This was the only movie he received an Academy Award nomination (but didn't win). Apparently he had this Suzuki T20 (not a tr500 as first thought) with racing fairing shipped in so he could travel around Taiwan when not filming. I have also read lots of stories that McQueen raced Army officers from bar to bar with the loser having to buy the next round of drinks. Needless to say that McQueen didn't have to buy many rounds. Check out more pics of 'The king of cool' on this beautiful bike.

McQueen is so bad ass, I always knew that, but all these pics just makes it known for sure. I have some great posters of him. Many from "Le Mans" the movie.

Not to Steve's level. He envied no one. Brat Pitt said if he could he'd change lives with Valentino Rossi.
