Its still over weight
Its still over weight
Try not. Do or Do not.
Wikipedia says 3800lbs., that just seems like way too much for ~300hp, AWD will only help you make up so much. Some cars are worth the hassle, ask any RX-7 guy, others have a good place in history.
Some say that his politics are terrifying, and that he once punched a horse to the ground...
i remember when everyone used to call 240's junk..lol
just like EK hatch refer's to a real japan civic hatch but everybody calls them EK, or like JDM is the most over used word in the world.Originally Posted by Jecht

Hey, Owning an RX-7 is like having a Handy capped Cat sure your gonna put a lot of money into it and sure its gonna always be broken in one sense or another but you grow attached. On that note I had the first problem with mine in almost a 1.5 years.Originally Posted by okra1981

oh come on Tracy, you know Armonds VR4 is pretty sick. Although they do break alot.Originally Posted by Tracy

Not true. DSM was an actual plant. the old avengers were DSM's. They said it under the hood. also, pre-95 3000gt/stealths are DSM's. Starions and Conquest are as well. The list goes on...Originally Posted by Jecht
So....why hasn't it? If you are talking about that era, you need to have the R33 weight as comparison, not the R34 you put in there.Originally Posted by leobond001

I love it.
Always had a soft car for these.
This chassis was just too fat and ahead of it's time...

It isn't the Supra's fault it didn't sell well in America to the point of the Japanese updating the emissions hardware 1998-2001.Originally Posted by leobond001

I do, however, appreciate your calm response. Reps to you.
For sure. I'm still hopeing to get on soon and do what I need to to it. You know anyone on here that has good experience with one?Originally Posted by MongolPup

Tyler at Killswitch Performance has had a VR4 forever, I think it was his first baby. Aside from that, any shop that has experience with Mitsus should have it down, try other site sponsors like TopSpeed or Batlground.Originally Posted by leobond001

Nice car though, you don't see many VR4's, and even less modified.
And to those who think they aren't capable, well thats a joke. They are in the 8's now.. The stock longblock can hold over 500HP, and they can make 350ish completely stock.
The reason that they aren't farther along is because of the lack of following they have. There are only 3-4 shops who REALLY tune them, and they make great power and have great results. I think the highest current HP is 9XX. That was through an auto though, so crank HP was way over 1000. I could be wrong though, its been a while since I ventured out of the 240 world.. Haha.
Leobond001, I'll PM you.
Oh, and here ya go.

Yeah, TopSpeed tuned one in the low-mid 500's with the stock bottom end. They CAN make power its just that they are prone to issues and are weight challenged.
I personally am not a fan of the car but that one looks alright. I wouldnt stop and take pics of it at a show though.....
There ya go! Diamond Star Motors was 1985-1994...which would include the first 4 years of the 3000GT and the Dodge Stealth was made until the split while the 3000GT production continued.Originally Posted by Drummerboy

It looks good...until it has to go in the shop 5mins later! lol
lol styling is something else obviously but i have a sore spot for fast mitsu's
All 3000GT's and Stealth's were assembeled in Mitsubishi's plant in Nagoya, Japan.Originally Posted by speedminded
But wasn't that crank HP? Your talking when he brought it to Ray's correct? I though he made like 938AWHP, which if you do the math, its over 1000 Crank HP.Originally Posted by DrummerBoy

And.. No, I pulled the motor out of my VR4, a while back. When I have the time, I'll put it all back together, but I wasn't happy with the setup.

shits weak on the one pictured. too much going on. and as for them being bad cars i disagree. any car has its slew of problems, this one for instance having rubber and plastic IC pipes. gimmicky but pioneering things like active aero and AWS notwithstanding. its a matter of what one driver is willing to put up with compared to the next guy. weight wise early vr4's came in around 3200lbs, it was the later verts that were heavy. guys that keep them stock traditionally have low mileage vehicles and maintain them religiously. they just drive them and have few major issues. the shitboxes are high miles, abused, not maintained, and have ignorant drivers in many cases. the third side being the cars that are bought to be built. condition doesn't come into play as much mechanically seeing as its all getting replaced.... hopefully.
you know, i had more to say but ive lost interest. moral is guys that build them love it. people that hate them have never owned one or felt put out when their 180k car shit its rear main bla bla bla. in the end im the asshole typing a response to someone being wrong on the internet.

Who changes your spark plugs? lol
It's definitely been show and drift specced out, if you will.
I like it though.
And I haven't seen a decent 3000GT, let alone a VR-4 in FOREVER....so hoo-yah to that.
:]
Looks good...
I had my numbers a bit off, but 1000+ none the less.Originally Posted by Killswitch Performance
